I think you're missing the point.
What was clearly demonstrated in those "metacritic scores post" was pretty clear.
Let me repeat it for you;

Viva Pinata, Kameo and PDZ were all *very* well recieved. Banjo Kazooie N&B -- which got good reviews and sales, just not "massive hit" level -- was a very good title.
Really, If your not playing Rare's games, your missing out. The issue is (IMO) Rare's "target audience" skews a little younger, and the "core gamer" is solidly behind titles like L4D, ME, Halo and other massive hits.

Somehow I think if Halo 3 and GTAIV Exclusive DLC were on PS3, you'd be singing a different tune.
Take Halo for instance; it is the Highest Rated (non-nintendo) console series *in history*. Higher than MGS. Higher than GT. Higher than Gears or KZ.
It's pretty clear that Halo makes PS owners jealous and petty -- please just STFU. Get back to us when PS3 has *any* title that is remotely successful compared to Halo 3.

The ELITE & PRO comprise the vast majority of installed machines -- so, its pretty clear that PRICE *really* isnt that much of a deciding factor.

You're dead wrong. Vista is currently ~20-25% of market. W7 -- pre-release(!) is almost 0.5% of the market.
W7 is going to be a massive release. 177M is nothing of the TOTAL OS market.

The 10 year lifespan is fiction, meant to give the (less informed) consumer the idea that sony's distant 3rd-place install and their lateness to market wont matter.
The PS2 is still for sale, but it is mostly being sold to replace broken machines or for children/inexpensive-alternati ve.

Something that hasnt really been discussed much, and I cant see *not* happening, is Natal to be used as a mutli-touch interface for Windows 7.
I would wager -- like all Xbox 360 devices -- Natal will work with Windows.
And, it will work as a input device for Mutli-Touch and the Surface runtime for Windows 7.
THAT is one secret-weapon that I think MS is just keeping quiet-on for the time being.
He makes a very valid point. PS3s are being bought as BR-disc players, this takes away from potential audience for games on the PS3.
I've been making this same argument for some time.
Sony has split its audience, and the game sales make this obvious. Why _IS_ the attachment rate so low? Because the PS3 is being bought to play BR-discs.
