I think it's really telling when you're more excited for next gen.
And how many times does ms need to show their lack of support before people get just a little sceptical? They acquire a few studios and all of a sudden everything is forgiven? No chance of ms falling back into their normal ways?
You might forgive derek for asking if ms is going to commit to this for the future as previous history tells us otherwise.
MS have proven they will only do the bare minimum to keep their customer base complacent and a history of ruining studios to a husk of their former selves.

Well when the fruits of those studio acquisitions come to light, and then I see MS continue to release more games after initial said 'fruits' I might consider getting an xbox. But it'll be the end of next gen by the time that happens.
I found it very telling MS had to come out and say they're working on the next xbox. By doing that they admitted their current direction has been so bad (focusing on GaaS) that they needed to reassure fans that they will actually have a physical console next gen.
Think about that for a moment.
That's the thing, it's given hope the xbone fans... Just enough hope for them not to sell their console. Just enough announcement for them to say "see! MS haven't tricked me for years now, they really are for the gamers".
Yes, acquiring a few studios is good, but why wasn't this done before the start of this generation? And how long until ms falls back to their usual lack of support? Will the games these studios release be any good? Or will ms do ...
Yup, glad to see xbone gamers get to experience a real gem.
As most astute people have pointed out, that means absolutely nothing. No mention of exclusives at all and a lot of them could be indies. (not that there's anything wrong with indies, I love them, but xbone desperately needs AAA exclusives)

There’s just as valid an argument that a monopoly is also the best thing that can happen to the industry. Most gamers, especially older ones who’ve been around a while, would probably agree the PS2 years were the best years in gaming. PS2 had a monopoly then. By having one massive unified customer base instead of a fractured customer base, companies took more risks and released more games at any point in our hobby’s history. There was no worry of timed exclusives or content, no DLC, and no MT...

You hit the nail on their head. The fact that Phil had to specifically mention they were making another xbox for next gen was really telling of how much damage they believe they've done to their customer base.
