A remaster is something for fanboys to fight about when they take a break from fighting about indie games.
Really that argument can be made for just about every single series of games though, really how different are the mechanics in games like Halo, COD, Madden, Uncharted, it seems hard for people to understand that its not easy creating new and never before seen game mechanics, sure you can add a few things here or there and slap a new coat of paint on it but really most game mechanics haven't really changed much so singling out Assassins Creed really isn't fair.

To be fair Playstation isn't the only console getting remasters, lest you forgot the Master Chief collection and the upcoming Gears remasters for xbox just to name a couple, remasters are not consoles specific, they are a symptom of this current console generation as a whole. As to their validity well that's up to everyone to decide on their own.
Pretty obvious these PS3 images have been manipulated making them appear blurry to make the PS4 images look even better, not saying that the PS4 version wont be amazing but this type of scum bag game journalism needs to stop.
