Agreed. And Zombie games in general are just about as generic as a game can get these days--so two major marks against it.

There's something seriously wrong with Sarah Palin porn. Seriously, seriously wrong.

I find the comments for this article to be... very depressing. The PS4 is still missing extremely basic features that should have been there on day 1, and this is yet another update that fails to add anything of real substance.... yet all I see here are consumers declaring their undying love for Sony.

Yikes.

Pretty much everyone who likes RPGs?

Finding and using new weapons and armor is the only real, "tangible" character progression we get in RPGs... if you're stuck using the same equipment for long periods of time, no matter what increases you may or may not have stat-wise, you don't feel like you're making much progress.

No Steam release?

I shouldn't. I still haven't finished MGS3.

Slow? Sony stopped supporting the Vita after a few months, and most major third parties followed their example.

Is it, though? The WiiU has a glut of 2D platformers. The other consoles... not so much. Nintendo is also the only company out there making AAA 2D platformers... so I would argue it's very possibly the -worst- platform for this kind of game.

Definitely agree on the RPG elements. Especially if they want to move the series in an open-world direction.

But the rest of the list...? Eh. Seeing "play as sheik" just strikes me as stupid. I definitely think there should be more customization options for Link, gender included, but Sheik is a very specific character from a very specific game and for the gamers who want the option to play as a female link, a cross-dressing Zelda seems more insulting than anything e...

Unclear pronoun references make it hard to tell if you're arguing for or against.

A change in strategy? From Nintendo? That would be unprecedented in the lifetimes of virtually everyone here.

Thinking that Bethesda is not overrated... seems to be rating Bethesda too highly. Or so it seems to me.

CDPR doesn't do DLC.

Calling content patches DLC does them a great disservice. They're not doing anything new or special--all decent PC developers used to act like this back before DLC-whoring became the norm.

Nintendo... modernised? They're still the most anachronistic company in the industry, and far from change that fact, the WiiU has made that backwardness even more apparent.

...but no basic sorting options?

I mean, Christ, even the old DS let you make folders.

Pretty much, yeah. A lot of Japanese developers tend to get really conservative with their combat systems, really fast. Especially with RPGs. So if the first game is a success, you can generally expect them NEVER to change the combat system. Ever.

Dragon Quest is pretty much the definitive example of this.

Which is a fine and dandy thing to do if you perfected the combat systems with the first game (which, admittedly, Dragon Quest did). But most games... do n...

I just hope they don't make the mistake of assuming that this is THE battle system they want the entire franchise to revolve around.

Just popping in to say that "prolific" is not an adjective that can apply to any game.

And that if you can't say what you mean, you'll never be able to mean what you say.

You almost sound like you don't appreciate the android port with it's forced-portrait-perspective and removed audio. How dare you, sir.

Are the future of Japanese games in danger? Yes. And that future has been in danger for a very long time.

It's a simple dynamic: most Japanese development teams are small. Outside of a small number of giant publishing houses, there's really no AAA industry in Japan. They simply can't compete at that level--nor should they.

The problem is Western audiences expect greater and greater production values from everyone. This means Japanese developers ei...
