You'd probably be able to walk in and get an xbone since you definitely won't be able to get a PS4. Second choice is always better then no choice I suppose.
Saying that, MS has lowered down the number of countries they are launching in so more day 1 stocks to go around those markets that are.
Also, MS still hasn't mentioned when they are launching so the date could be further away from the launch window of PS4, so more time to manufacture day 1...
MS seems to be very conservative with the truth here. Industry news journalists are reporting problems but they are denying it. Perhaps since they haven't really disclosed the actual launch date, to them production is still moving along and fine. Funny way of interpreting it though, but then when it comes to marketing spiel, you really need to look at the words closely.
Not a very good analogy to use megapixels and cameras. There is a whole lot of things you need to look in to and lenses make a whole lot of difference when used on either camera.

It all boils down to the fact that kinect is a nice to have item, and not a required piece of equipment for a console. Face it, you're only going to be using for for the first 6 months or so, after that it's gonna be gathering dust.
