1) Bluetooth is extremely glitchy and routinely drops the connections between devices. Granted this situation has improved slightly since Bluetooth’s inception into the marketplace but this issue will probably be something that Playstation gamers will just have to get used to. Sorry folks.

2) Bluetooth uses a lot of battery power and is extremely inefficient in this regard. In other words: it is not a coincidence that the PS3 controllers have a large internal battery built-i...

As a highly informed techie and an economist by profession it has been extremely difficult for myself to resist trying to constantly counter the effects of Sony's marketing strategy (commonly referred to as "buy-in Theory") whereby they appeal to the brand loyalty of their existing fan base by over-exaggerating the relative power of their console and then reinforcing these lies with over-the-top arrogance.

Unfortunately I have had to just walk away from a number of in...

Personally, I won't be taking the ride along with them because I am endowed with enough technical knowledge and understanding to not fall for Sony's arrogant lies and other forms of "Buy-in Theory" used on their legion of fan boys in order to appeal for their wallet's paticipation in the matter.

Relatively speaking the PS3 will have to come down in price by a substantial amount before I even consider purchasing the unit because to myself the 360 represents a far bette...

One of the many lessons that Microsoft learned by releasing their first Xbox video game console was that licensing most of the internal components for the system effectively limited their ability to redesign the console, as well as reduce costs overtime.

This business model, coupled by the fact that Microsoft chose to use a Intel based CPU (rather than the Power PC architectured CPU that have traditionally been used by console's in the past) is what lead some observers to comme...

I would never give a fighting game with no online component a score higher than 9 / 10 and I know for a fact that there are many reviewers that feel the same way, in a post-Xbox Live / next-generation environment.

For example: if this game were to be reviewed (in the exact same form as it exists now) on the 360 - it would never obtain an average score of 9.5 / 10 because Xbox Live has increased the bar and become a standard, such that any omission (to the contrary) is simply un...

...Relative to the established industry standard (that is Xbox Live) and in the context that they have essentially conceded the fact that they will not be catching-up with Microsoft's efforts anytime too soon.

Knowing these facts: less talking about specifics, accompanied with a lot of hype to get their existing fan base to "buy-in" to their product is probably the best strategy for Nintendo.

What I am most concerned about with respect to the Wii howeve...

This game is currently averaging 84.5% on www.gamerankings.com and it looks like it will be another valuable addition to the ever growing Xbox 360 game library.

Considering the very few number of games scheduled to come out for the Wii this next year and all the problems the PS3 is having with such a high price point, inferior games / hardware issues, delays, etc, etc, ...it is becoming harder and harder to not JUMP IN!

Comment 4.1 has already pointed this out but judging from comments made post-facto; I felt that it was important to reiterate this fact.

Just bring up the player in the players list (in the guide menu) and select the mute option. I use it all the time in Rainbow 6 Vegas and eventhough there is a quicker way to navigate to the player's gamertag options (via the game lobby menu) - it looks like Halo 3 will do one better by making the process even faster and therefore more convie...

This is because the PS3 was only designed to utilize 256mb (of its 512mb total memory) for this purpose - due to its segmented memory structure.

As a techie, I always laugh at Sony fan boys who seem to think that just because a Blu-Ray disk can hold more data than a DVD-9, that PS3 games will have more detailed textures.

I laugh for a number of reasons (that would each take a long time to explain) but the one that is most pertinent to this news story is the fact ...

A product that is identical in all territories will cost the same regardless of where you travel to purchase that item. Basically, everyone earns something called a "real income" and that income can be extrapolated (in simple terms) by taking the person's nominal income and adjusting it's relative value via the exchange rate. In other words, the exchange rate is the adjustment mechanism used to compare apples to apples. Of course the price mechanism will always clear the market r...

Germany's extreme backlash against the video game industry will not go unnoticed by individuals that intend to commit violence - irrespective of whether or not they actually play games.

The disconnect towards more probable cause and effects and the corresponding media's initiative of blaming video games will in and of itself cause criminals to harness society's irrational fears - as either an attempt to garner more fame and / or as a defence (excuse?) for their actions.

The engine supports Direct X9 (and therefore shader model 3.0, etc) and therefore both consoles should have little problem running the engine. To various degrees of success (no doubt) and my conviction (as a techie) is that the 360 is superior than the PS3 in the Direct X9 environment.

Regardless though, ...the bottom line is: Duh!

I mean, all that I get from this story is that this developer is completely oblivious to the fact that the 360's GPU is of a unified...

I get tears in my eyes everytime I see a new Halo 3 trailer and it reminds me of when optimus prime died early in the Transformers movie.

Infact, I would not be surprised if the Chief also dies in Halo 3 in some noble sacrifice to save humanity. Just imagine Cortana speaking about post apocalyptic hope and the start of a new era, in which the Chief is nothing more than a legend - dust in the wind!

No doubt that the Chief will fight along side the Arbiter (that w...

Oh, and I bet they launch this game on the same day as Halo to show the Chief who's bestest!

LOL

This game is going to suck!

PS: Never mind the fact that any FPS on the PS3 should get an automatic 10% reduction for having a pathetic excuse for a controller and another 10% reduction for not having rumble.

I mean if Sony was actually serious about establishing a new FPS IP on the PS3 that could hold a candle to the l...

The rumble just exasperated the fear of knowing that whatever was coming into the house and up the stairs was BIG, ...really, really, BIG!

I was forced to take cover (fighting elite guards, with the bows, no less) on the top of the stairs and couldn't see what was coming for me. But I could sure hear it and boy oh boy could I feal it!

Thus, eventhough there are far superior (and potentially cheaper) storage solutions than Blu-Ray (available in the not too distant future); ...Sony does not own the intellectual rights to those technologies and so their strategy would be to force an expensive format change onto the consumer now by throwing a cross-subsidized trojan horse into their PS3 and hyping its value.

By establishing a foothold on the market, they stand to reap major royalty fees and (since the market wil...
