I had a great time with DK2 and a GTX 780, didn't hit any performance issues. However Retail Oculus is higher resolution so will need more power.

Thats total bollocks, plenty of console games have problems too.
Have you considered 1440p? It is a lot sharper than 1080 but nowhere near as demanding on hardware as 4k.

It does not work well enough to be useful, it is laggy amd unreliable.
Should be free as it was clearly removed from the game if it is ready for release so soon.
