Wii is still $100 cheaper than HD consoles, and is geared towards a market that is different than HD consoles'. Namely, the old people and casual gamers. HD consoles cater to hardcore gaming audience who are 20-30 somethings, so obviously their brand of gaming is different than Wii's. Its foolish to suggest that grandma who plays Wii Fit Plus every sundays will go out and buy PS3 with a copy of Demon's Souls. Completely different markets.
You are correct. The PS3 Slim relaunch numbers are comparable to PS2's launch. The PS2 users are already crawling back to PS3. I sure hope the author didn't expect the majority of 120 million PS2 users to go out and buy PS3 Slim as soon as the price cut was announced.

The story is minimal, but it is very adult in its presentation. Yes, the grand story is about an evil Old One taking over the world little by little. Sony's "Halo" is the Killzone franchise. COD is pure hype, nothing more. $60 for a 5 hour game with essentially the same multiplayer repackaged from the previous game, but with new weapons and maps, and with a mega-million dollar marketing push? I don't want a new console anytime in the next couple of years. PS3 will last until 2016 and beyond, and we are no where even near till its half life yet. Although I think MS will go ahead and release Xbox 720 in the next 3-4 years because Halo franchise has been completely milked and needs a new next-gen update in order for people to buy it.
Simple. Dedicated servers cost $$. A single server blade costs $25k. Not to mention maintaining those servers, which costs additional money. Matchmaking is p2p and negates the use of servers. Some games are a pretty good fit for p2p matchmaking (Uncharted 2) whereas others are good fit for dedi-servers (majority of online FPS on PC).
I wouldn't be surprised if Activision CEO Bobby Kottick is somehow involved in this. The guy is a greedy sleazebag.
I would have gotten it even if the price was $100 for Uncharted 2. I can't say that for any other game out there, and that's a testament to Uncharted 2's incredible quality. A Must-own game of this generation, hands down.
