The point he's (quite capably) making is that the article, even if it is positive or debating whether it is or not, is obviously flamebait due to having "doomed to failure?" in its title.
Such tactics are the hallmark of shoddy journalism.
If this "news" for gamers was accurately entitled, it would simply read: "Sony Banking A Lot On Motion Controller's Success."

You don't need a time machine when the publisher provides a review event. And with the servers online for the event in question.
Domination (256 players) was played at the event. All journalists who played were using a ramped up level 60 character so they could all get a taste of what it was like to command (OIC etc).
The journalists even beat Zipper (TWICE!) at Domination. Which was nice for those of us who could attend.
When Sony held a review event for journalists to play the game (with servers up) so reviews could be written before the game came out?
I think those publications that have reviewed the game will be fine.

The review embargo ended at 5pm GMT today. There was a review event. The gold version of the game was played. Servers were up; albeit not the final servers which will be turned on tomorrow I believe.
Seriously, I know it's easy to just comment without thinking but, please, maybe do some investigation before making such spurious claims.

The device comes bundled with the PSEye. I'm assuming owners of the Eye already can opt for a cheaper "Eye-less" option.
The question is price. Speculation is that the bundle will be the price of a full game which isn't bad in my opinion. Anything more expensive (with, let's face it, Sony have a record of doing) will probably detract a lot of people from the prospect of picking it up.
