Boom! Under my TV, one surviving original launch 60gb PS3. Used everyday for an average of 12-20 hours a week. Its very noisy now, and occationally freezes up, but if you saw the dust in my house that it attracts (I have two long haired German Shepherds who dump tons of the stuff in the living room) you'd be amazed that its still going.
The 60gb has more vents in it than the 40gb launch model did which I think has helped. Plus its always been upright which might help cool...
Fair play for sticking to what feels right for you and being brave enough to vocalise it on here. Not saying I agree with you or disagree, I just think its honest and courageous.
Not being funny but the article isnt exactly using facts here. Guessing how many consoles are out there isnt accurate and assuming that just because only 7 people have made it known that their console broke doesnt mean there arent more. Look at the facts, ask yourself how reliable is the article Im reading. Never just assume whst you're being told is true.
I think there will be failures but Id guess at less than 2% total. Hardly anything to worry about.

Cod4 was a fluke. A combination of the right ideas at a time when there was nothing like it around. They'll never make another game as good as Cod4 again.
Do you think they realise that this sort of comment just comes across as cocky, blowing your own trumpet, corporate flag waving jibberish? It doesnt endear you to the consumers. This sort of trash talk puts me off Microsoft.

Id argue that the Wii wasnt people first choice console. Certainly not gamers first choice. It sold close to 100m units because it was so cheap you could buy a PS3 and a Wii. Wii U should aim to bevthe same. With a lack of third party support it'll never be first choice for gamers, they may buy it in addition to the PS3 or 360 they have or in addition to the PS4 or XBO they're going to get, but I reckon hardly ever in isolation.
I will get a PS4 but not at launch and probably not in the first 12 months. Theres still a huge backlog of PS3 games to play, I still use it as a media centre, which I cant do with a PS4 and until Im certain that Sony is listening to what we want and delivering Im content to wait.
MoonConquistador gets it, its not the lack of the feature its what it says about Sonys intentions that worrys me.

Graphics are not the be all and end all, but since they're a positive benchmark for the PS4 people are jumping on them as justification for their choice. Im secure in my choices, I dont need validation from the outside world to be happy with my choice. Ive chosen Son...

For me, no, the framerate is what matters more.
Im still getting a PS4 though. Because even when you take graphics out the equation Sony still wins for me on their philosophy, track record, their exclusives and their design. And price. And PS Plus. And the controller. And Vita compatability.
Although I am firmly in Sonys camp I can empathise with you. The launch window games are okay, but not revolutionary. The way I see it you're buying into the future potential of the console. The best games of next gen wont be the Battlefields, Cods or Killzones, they'll be the games we never saw coming.
My moneys on Savage Starlight...and I cant wait.

You shouldnt take simething thats in the PS3 and make it unavailable for PS4. Thats not advancement. It was done to push uptake of Music Unlimites and increase the revenues, no other reason.
I trust Sony to sort it, but my desire to pick up a PS4 has waned because of this and Im more likely to wait til next year now.
Forget games, since theres no real third party support for the big titles, you're relying on first party games and they're just too thin on the ground.

Uncharted 4 first - Sony are going to want a big name IP announced for the PS4 sooner rather than later, and UC4 will convince many PS3 owners to upgrade to PS4 - then the team that worked on TLoU will bring out a new IP.
Im still hoping for Savage Starlight.

No confirmation that its running on ps4
No confirmation that even if its possible, that they're going to do it.
No confirmation that it'll be upgraded in any way, just like we've had no confirmation that the other games will be anything other than straight ports of the PS3/Vita versions.
