First of all, weak hardware means nothing. See: Wii, 3ds, ps2, ps1, gameboy.
Second, Nintendo has their own IP. They always will, and that will always set them apart from the competition.
X is coming out much sooner than that, plus it was confirmed for 2014.
Fair enough, that's your own opinion and preference. But personally, I am very interested in the games it provides/will provide, and I certainly think that playing their cards right can definitely attract more people, despite everything the Wii U might lack. Basically I'm saying that no one can say for sure that it has no hope.

Imo, putting Nintendo games on other hardware would change it for the worse. Their games are often designed around the hardware and vice versa (64 controller was designed for Mario 64). You can't get all the magic without Nintendo's own system.
