The same reason I keep playing it. It's freaking awesome. When I'm not playing Destiny I'm thinking about playing Destiny. I'm starting to gravitate more towards the multiplayer modes but still I am in the process of leveling up my 3 characters. My Titan and Hunter are level 27 (almost 28) and my Warlock is a 12.

Several hours!!!
I almost have my Hunter to the same level as my Titan. I seriously am going through with draw already. I play this game several hours per day and have since I picked it up nearly 2 weeks ago. I'm seriously addicted. I have a ton of spare time to kill right now and no servers to shoot it out on.
I don't "personally" know a soul that purchased Destiny that don't, not only enjoy it, but flat out love it.
All of them could careless about reviews. The gaming media is irrelevant. It's only used as a marketing tool. These developers and publishers could give a toss what any of them have to say.

The game is amazing. I can't stop playing it. Look at my post history and noticed I barely post the past several days. I have been living on this game day and night. I am trying to get my Titan and Hunter to level 30. I haven't been this addicted to a shooter since Quake 2.
This is one of my favorite games of al time and I know Bungie is only going to make it better with updates, DLC and expansions. More importantly sequels.

I thoroughly enjoyed Watch Dogs but I'm totally addicted to Destiny. I absolutely love the game. I am playing it several hours a day. Best game I've played in years when it comes to online PvP. And I loved exploring the areas as well. Anyone not playing this online is missing out. Excellent level design for multiplayer and incredible net code which is to be expected from Bungie.

$520 isn't much of an upgrade for a PC.
If you do have the money there really isn't anything like it. I have a rig. I had a friend turn me on to using a wheel nearly a decade ago and I was instantly hooked. Now my entire gaming room is built around racing. The Playseat was my first rig. I have since moved on to much more expensive gear.

Now I heard everything. Most people didn't buy Destiny, a game regardless of it's RPG/MMO elements is an FPS at it's core and a damn good one at that, wasn't purchased to play online human vs human.
Yet any other FPS, whether it has a story or not or what elements are used in the game, people say I mostly purchased this to play online anyway so I could give a toss about anything but online.

Around $1k for a Playseat and the TX 458 combo.
Thrustmaster has a T300 wheel for the PS4. It's the same wheel base as the TX 458. The only difference is the wheel itself and the PS4 wheel has 1080 degrees of rotation vs 900 for the TX 458 / X1 wheel.
I have the TX 458 but I'm passing on the T300. I'm waiting on an invite from Fanatec to get their new CSW V2. It will have PS4 and X1 compatibility. When I get my hands on that I can sell off my TX 458 and have one wheel that rules them all.
PSN is fine on my end.
But at least now I know why it wouldn't allow me to do strike missions. It said I need a PS+ subscription and I was like WTF are they talking about? So I went to the PS4 UI and I was connected to PSN and could enter the store smd sync my trophies with no problems.
Rebooted the PS4 and still can't play strike. At least now I know why. Oh well. I will just explore for more loot and do side missions until things work themselves o...
Actually Kayant it's a foregone conclusion the PS4 is beyond 11 million now. So that would mean over 11+ million people disagree with gameon and the gap is widen week after week after week.

For a crap game it sure takes up all of my free time. I play Destiny every single day since the day I bought it and don't see myself not playing it any time soon. It's the most I've played a game in years. I think it's fantastic and seriously can't get enough of it. My friends list has nearly tripled since Destiny released and not 1 person has dropped off from playing it regularly.
