Sales figures can be spun, Despite the year lead Xbox had it's only 5 million units ahead of PS3.

Sony has caught up incredibly.

Xbox- 55 million (4 June 2011)

No sony does do hardware, they just get components and chips from these companies.
How to implement them is all Sony.
