Although I don't agree with your many points, You are right about the markers on the compass.
I am not a huge RPG player so a streamlined experience does not bother me (I can see how it would to the more enthusiastic RPG player)but after getting quite deep into oblivion I found that being guided to your objective does somehow undermine the dialogue and takes from my satisfaction of completing a quest.

You have to be disinterested in a LOT of things.

Don't worry it will be fine, they say its because the developer xbox is generally easier to demo on, which is why they use it.
I will get the PS3 version but may be tempted to pick up the PC version instead now that I can run it...

IMO you do need at least a PS3 to go with your PC, because there are AAA titles that you just can't play on PC.
That's why I now have both, I enjoy multiplatform games to their full potential and can still enjoy the great exclusives that PS3 offers me.
P.S I have not owned a PC for very long but PS3 exclusives have yet to be beat on my rig..

This is a bugger since we tend to share our games around, having to par for online makes that quite a bit more annoying.
How much will an online pass cost if you buy a used game or borrow? If its a lot by my standard I will not be amused..
I can see the positive side, and maybe maintaining networks is getting more expensive (well it just did for Sony) But it's still a risky move and it could put people off.

Actually from what I've played of the beta so far it seems the climbing has a lot less restrictions, In U2 it was specific, but for example in chateau I can grab anywhere up the side of the high stairs. And on hanger I can climb on places I didn't think I could.
Of coarse its still a step behind assassins creed but it's far closer to free climbing than the last game..
as for which is better of U3 and Gears3 I'll ...
