That has nothing to do with this topic.
Neil just want to present women in games very naturally, not like Hookers with big boobs and half naked. Thats all...
Neil Druckmann about this:
"Periodically someone gets on a soapbox and exclaims, "This is how games should & shouldn't be!" They're always wrong."
Not just Neil, nearly every developer i follow on twitter hates this article...
They tell stories "different". Every medium has it's own language and it's own strengths in story-telling.
Journey is a work of art. The so called walking simulators are works of art. Nier is a "game" with all the typical gameplay mechanics. It tells a story, yes, but only with cut scenes and not with the language of this medium.
Its too gamey to be a true work of art.
It's because of the uncanny valley. You can't mix realistic graphics with old and unrealistic (facial-) animations. Problem is, that the graphics are too realistic now, you can see it in Horizon Zero Dawn, too. This uncanny valley effect will get worse, if developers won't use performance capturing for their next games. It would be too costly for open world games or games like Mass Effect Andromeda, but it is what it is... This is a huge problem for the industry.
Ignoring all weaknesses is balanced and professional?

R3 wasn't as good as HL2, but it had the most complete shooter campaign since HL2, it was quite a triumph. I mean, as a shooter, R3 had a good story and good characters and it was very atmospheric and varied. One of the most underrated games for PS3.
Do you remember the fantastic live action teaser trailer? https://www.youtube.com/wat...
Today, we have experiences like That Dragon Cancer, Gone Home, Firewatch, The Last of Us, Journey, Everybodys Gone To The Rapture, Heavy Rain, Inside, Virginia, The Walking Dead, Unfinished Swan or Dear Esther. Games became a true artform over the years and thats why they are respected nowadays. That wasn't the case in the 90s. it's not just a gamers thing anymore, it's for all people, there are games for everyone of every age.
@Neonridr
No, it's just lower resolution, watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/wat...
It's exactly the same. The real life "textures" loose all their details in 480p.
@starchild
That's because those scenes are rendered in real-time! It will never look the same!
@Pastorfuzz
When Ico came out, it was revolutionary, there weren't any games out there with that kind of pacing, atmosphere and minimalistic game design, but nowadays there are so many great indies with a similar approach, that another Ico wouldn't be that special anymore.
I just don't expect a masterpiece. I've seen the two gameplay trailers and i think the game design is outdated, that's all.
I think it's a really obsolescent game design. It's something between Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, yes, something between two PS2-Games... I mean, Ico and Sotc were masterpieces, but please don't give Ueda a free pass because of that.
I just added Uncharted 4 to "my favourite Channels" by clicking on the star. I can find it now by clicking on the three dots next to Vita and DS. But i don't like it that way. And by changing the layout to "list" it looks similiar to the old site.
The best example for "never change a running system" in years. This site was a 10 out of 10 site. Now, with the changes, it's just awful. It was well structured, it was clear and simple, it was a perfect site for game news. The new design is just annoying and confusing, what a mess, thank you N4G for making this place a bad place.
Edit: Ok, I have discorvered the "list" option, it's now at least similar to the old Site...
I think it's too dated to be the best game ever. Maybe it WAS the best game ever, but the greatest games are timeless, just as the greatest movie masterpieces.
Thing is, that young people who play it for the first time today, wouldn't enjoy it much, not as we did when Ocarina of Time came out. Same goes for Half Life 2 and other so called "best games ever". Hey, HL2 is one of my favorite games.
The greatest interactive experience is probably Journey...
That is why Journey is the greatest interactive experience ever created. A masterpiece of art.
It's more about story-telling, how the story is told with the language of video games. You can't compare it directly with the story-telling in films. Interactivity changes everything. I'm a cinephile and love the masterworks of cinema, i really love films, but games like Edith Finch, Gone Home, TLoU and Left Behind, Firewatch, Inside are using perfectly the language of video games to tell a story. It's just different, but also great.
