Hmm be careful - you are comparing extrapolated numbers with non-extrapolated numbers.

You guys do realise that Amazon has like 2% marketshare? These figures are generally pretty meaningless.

Re-posted again (as I will each time all the anti-VGC comments come out):

Seriously, you guys need to do some research before posting this stuff. VGChartz numbers have been pretty much spot on with NPD for the last 6 months now - why don't you actually look the figures up and see?

Let's do it for you:

NPD July data -
"VGChartz sucks, simple as that" - because they don't report what you want them to report maybe?

More of this anti-VGC BS!

Let's do it for you, this is a comparison between the VGChartz NPD previews (posted BEFORE NPD data comes out) and the NPD data itself:

VGChartz July preview -

Slim was only released in America for the reporting period that this covers - i.e we won't see the effect in Europe / Japan until next week

Statistical polling, same as where the sell-through data comes from on VGChartz. They ask consumers which games they are preordering, ask a small panel of retailers which games are getting most preorders.

So if they poll 5000 gamers per week they know how much of the total gaming population this represents and apply weightings for how hardcore or casual the sample is vs the whole population and use this to scale the figures up. Similarly, if they poll 10 small retailers, they fin...

What did we learn with Killzone 2?

"It's either accurate or it aint . There is no in-between . And they aint period ."

Well that sums up the ignorance we're seeing here. It is definitely not a black and white as you suggest. NPD, Chart Track and other "official" tracking agencies make adjustments all the time to their figures and have been known to make some huge mistakes in the past. This is because they sample data - collect sell-through information from sample of retailers and extrapolate th...

Wow, so many Sony fans just can't take the truth! Even if you don't like VGC numbers (which in itself is pathetic) this isn't actually from VGC it is from Chart Track, the official UK Chart Company.

Learn to READ before you post.

This is straight from Chart Track

PS3 sales will skyrocket as of next week then the slim sales start to count, nobody is denying that. You guys do realise that the old model PS3 is totally sold out and that these figures are including the price drop but before the slim release, right?

People can't buy PS3s if there aren't any out there, no matter how cheap they are!

No I visit the site regularly and find it crazy to come here and read stuff like this - where people make a statement with no facts to support it.

You do realise that most publishers, industry analysts and investment firms use VGChartz data each week to make serious business decisions? Why a firm doing something as groundbreaking as VGChartz gets the bad press it does amazes me sometimes.

You've all heard of Famitsu and Media Create right? Both track sales in Japan a...
