A question, I played the original Mass Effect but I never liked the game. How different is the ME2 compared to the first one?

Thnx for the quick reply, I played the 1st on the 360. The overall setting didn't appeal too me, the conversations felt weird and awkward, the stood there like zombies and my fellow AI was sometimes OK but most of the time just retarded.
