The thing is, most people who only play CoD or BF4 will likely stick with current gen. Still, launching the X1 at the same time as Ghosts is a good idea to grab some attention and convince people to move to next gen. Some of these people don't want to wait a whole week or even worse, 2 weeks to just get CoD on a next gen console if they can already play it on their 360s/PS3s - with their friends I might add
While he mentioned some other flaws, he only noted the "subpar graphics" as a con, and for some reason this took out a whole 2 points from the score.

They aren't trying to outdo MS. Do you really think they changed the price to $399 after hearing MS at E3? They already said they had decided the price even before Microsoft announced the Xbox One price. Without Kinect the X1 would be about $399 as well. Sony was smart to not force the camera issue

I'm not downplaying the $400 tag. I'm just saying people wouldn't say it's a GREAT or AWESOME price if the competition ie the Xbox One were to launch at a similar or even cheaper price.
$400 for the specs is REALLY GOOD. But let's face it, if the X1 were to launch at $300 (for argument's sake) nobody would be praising $399.
The only reason $400 is a "Win" is because the Xbox One is at $500.
It's all driven by competition. People who say $400 is an awesome price are only fooling themselves. If the X1 were to launch at $300, we'd only hear "Well $400 is still reasonable and okay"
Actually for me, the better question is what's the point of buying games at full price if you didn't preorder?

It's not rent? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the same as PS+ where you lose access to the games after your XBL Gold subscription runs out?

I find it amusing that the writer knows all 4 games the PS Store will offer (I've only heard of Duck Tales) and knows nothing about any of the Arcade games save for TMNT
Yeah this is only $10 savings. We shouldn't look at it like that though since release SKUs obviously don't get discount bundles like the PS3/360 nowadays.
A good way to look at this price is compare it to the $499 Xbox one bundle which doesn't include a game and Gold
I am all in for the customized difficulties based on "human behavior" but there's a problem with a camera "taking notes" and observing the player.

The thing is, if the X1 and Kinect need each other to function, then it's pointless to sell them separately. Microsoft just doesn't want to say "Yeah when your Kinect 2.0 breaks down you gotta spend another $500 to get a new bundle or send it to us for repair!"
