That's exactly what Microsoft wants.. those rumors of a Toshiba xbox 360... may not be far from the truth... Microsoft will probably license the right to run xbox 360 games and have other companies build the hardware.
I don't think they mean a single hardware manufacturer.. but a single common platform that all games run on.. similar to the PC... allows hardware makers like Sony, Toshiba, Samsung, etc make their own hardware as long as they provide the minimun specs required to...
I think Microsoft will eventually open this up.. just like they open the network functionality for the XNA framework. but it will take time before they can make sure that user created content don't crack your xbox 360 open, hackers steal your profile and your credit card information... and yeah.. and this is not counting cheaters...
We speak so much of user created content and yet... we still waiting for the first PS3 game that takes advantage of this so call "user created content...
wow! Yet another RTS for the Xbox 360.
wow... PS3 sells goes up as obviously predicted due to price drop... and this equals Xbox flops!? I doubt it...
Are you saying that with a straight face? When was the last time the ESRB rating ever stop you from playing a rated M game? ARe you going to complain for the xbox 360 or any device for having ways for parents to control what content they play? don't forget that the xbox 360 also allows movies (any rating) to be downloaded from xbox live marketplace... more power to parents.. hey I am a dad... I would hate to see my kid downloading some Demo or movie while I am at work... heck yeah.. I will us...
@Prismo_Fillusion - haha.... you wish... sorry to tell you but I never experience RROD... I guess I am one of the lucky ones... I own two because I am married... and when my wife is watching American Freaken idol or some other freaken show... I can't play... So I have one next to my computer (where I can play whenever I want without interumptions).... I rather to do that to be umpluging cambles.. all I have to do is snap xbox 360 detachable hard drive and take it to the other one.. and the fu...
I see the core as a console to own when you want a 2nd xbox 360... not your as your primary... I currently own 2 xbox 360... Premium + Elite... Now, I have a 20GB hard drive just hanging around... since I tend to switch my hard drive around depending on where I want to play... Home office or Living room on big TV... No single person will ever need more than 1 hard drive...
Arcade SKU > Core....
Yesterday the core was 279 and it didnt come with any of these ext...
Making this game on the PS3 would be a complete waste of development time.. since PS3 owners (well those that can run BC) can always grab the PS2 version real cheap... This game make no sense to get make it on the PS3 for the same reason that it didnt make sense to make Ninja Gaiden Sigma on the xbox 360... it just wouldn't sell.. as much.
Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights was horrible... you could actually finish the race without having to turn your wheels... (I actually tried it)... with games like Forza 2, GT:HD/P and PGR4 one would think that developers would not release crap like this... they are lucky they sold more than 1 copy.
lol... your avatar goes well with your comment...
Here is another way to see it... This is a better value than the core... which cost the same price... but now you get HDMI, 256 MB memory, wireless controller... and 5 games... “PAC-MAN Championship Edition, “Uno”, “Luxor 2”, “Boom Boom Rocket” and “Feeding Frenzy".
Sounds to be like an upgrade... a lot better the core... but I can't try to convince you... I'm sure that no matter how much the xbox 360 cost... you still would...
Sorry but I can't makup your name...
I like the Idea of which you speak... but isn't that what Linux is? Free... and many argue that is better? all that you describe is what people say linux is.
It's ironic.. but lots of people still don't buy a copy of windows... the computer they buy usually comes bundle with it.. or people use an ilegal copy.
I don't mind Open Source programs.. but here is an example of what happends when an OS is open source...

This is proof that if Studios release their movies in both formats.. HD DVD would have it's place in the market.
Movies work like games... people buy the format that have the movies they want... and as of now blu-ray may have the edge... hopefully this opens other studios to support HD DVD.
Capcom does not owe Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo any loyalty since they've being loyal to their fanbase for a long time... even before the Sony cared about gaming...
It's simply stupid to expect Them stop stop making money to sastify a handful of fanboys that don't want others to play the games they are playing.. because of corporate fanboysm... specially when they are getting the game on their console too.
I understand if capcom wouldnt be supporting your console at all... but t...
I think this is a nice improvement over previous weeks... for the PS3 though nothing to call victory and the death of the xbox 360... it would take 2 years for the PS3 to catchup to the xbox 360 selling at 2:1. I'm almost sure that this will force microsoft to react with a price drop... just like the last time when Sony dropped the price microsoft waited a few weeks to the what Sony impact would have in the market and the drop the price accordingly... and only a $50 price drop did the trick a...
Studios have to look at their advantage and not what each individual director wants... Michael Bay can always turn down the offer of making the next Transformer... though I'm sure by then the format war may be more defined.
standard DVD is where my money is. Not HD DVD or Blu-ray... if studios would to live of HD format at this point in time... they would all be broke... both formats are being funded by their respective camp...
eventually if blu-ray wins all the movies w...
You just mentioned 2 Top 1st party games... that were funded by Sony. Isn't obvious why these features would be there?
All these features have to implemented on the actual game from the ground up. This cost money. These features are part of xbox live and developers only have to create references to existing API makes a few function calls and done... Microsoft servers host the data and handle the process... That's the reason why with xbox live it's possible to chat with a friend...
Hopefully Sony is taking notes and paying close attention to what's happening.
This is just the nature of things... It's all about money. Xbox live offer these features out of the box and developers don't have to spend money and resources implementing it. Obviously companies like Epic rather implement these features themselves because capable and big developers with the right resources don't like to use someone else tools... but their own... we are talking about Epic.. they fre...
ohhh.. don't go there... lol..
your statement or finger pointing would be valid only if all the PS3 games including 1st party would be dramatically bigger than the games being shipped on DVD9 (xbox 360).
Explain why heavenly sword is not 80 hours? Or Resistance is not 50 hours?
why are PS3 games staying within their boundary in terms of game length?
COD shines because of the online component... they adding single player as a bonus... who online is w...
"But we know Microsoft doesn’t want to include the HD DVD drive so as not to limit the user’s experience"... two ways to look at it.
what if microsoft does not released an xbox 360 with a built in HD DVD... instead.. Toshiba releases an HD DVD standalone drive that can play xbox 360 games? This of course not not be "including the HD DVD drive" to the xbox 360 ... but more like including the xbox 360 into a Toshiba products market under a different name...

That's right.. SmokeyMcBlunt.. if Sony fanboys abuse the system again and remove all by bubbles because I have an opinion... I will simply create another account... using.. another account name if I have to.. or even another domain email address.. or even a different proxy or a range of different IP addresses... bottom line... I can't be "reprimanded"... Period. Get over it.. the sooner you do the better.
Removing people's bubble simply forces people to create another account...
