Still looking for more in-depth specifications about the console itself. The reveal was too emphasized on non-gaming features.
Another waiting game 'till E3.
XboxReveal at Xbox.com plays war-themed fanfare songs, the next gen war is about to BEGIN!

MS, Sony, and Apple are all in the same club. Sad to know these factory workers are being capitalized on low wages.
History has demonstrated that all modern consoles can do more than just gaming, like many PS2 or PSP owners they've sacrificed the sole purpose of gaming for *additional* multimedia functions via mod chips or custom firmwares. Even the PS3 was very popular as the best Blu-Ray media player, and quite many have bought it for movie entertainment. It helps increasing the PS3 sales too, you like it or not. Remember the "It Only Does Everything" slogan?
Now if i am a ...
Looks like Conan O'Brien had a fishy dream back in mid 2011 :

A year later in 2012, Micro secures the Xbox 8 domain :

You know a 'big deal' is very subjective, it really depends on your gaming preferences. Some would prefer a pure/core gaming box, while others would prefer an 'all you can do' entertainment box. Pizza hut says hello.
It looks like the new xbox is made for as broad audience as possible, not for teraflops gamers only.
Not really surprised TBH, Micro goes to use the word "home entertainment center" for the new xbox. It might only be ideal for those who don't want their entertainment room being cluttered by cable boxes, consoles, etc.
I guess it boils down to each company's business plan, if one just imitates another then you'll see the opposite fans may go ballistic over copying ideas. Like the old Apple slogan, 'Think Different'
Let Sony be So...
Can feel a sudden goosebump here, weird.
Bring it on Console War III !
Fix me if i am mistaken, i won't bite you. The PS3 has a faster kind of RAM too @3.2GHz compared to the 360's GDDR3 @700MHz. Don't you remember XDR?
What really help the 360 up to speed is EDRAM. Now they gonna use ESRAM(?) for the 720.
The Amiga was way ahead of times, there was a "silly" add-on called DCTV where it could display a 24bit/16 million color image through a 16 color screen mode. Something unheard of back then.
Couldn't agree more, miss the days of Commodore vs Atari so much.
Gaming feels less interesting without healthy competition.
Heavy emphasis on indie games = WIN!
It's sad to see Sony as a company lowered to 'Junk' status today from 'Above Junk' weeks ago :

Hmm..so this confirms the new Xbox coming out next year. The magnesium case looks kinda cool.
Hopefully the Orbis is coming out afterward, if not prior.
edit: the shape reminds me to AppleTV and the chrome frame makes it look like an obese iP4. The minimalist approach does the sexy look.
"...and the explosive growth of smartphones is cannibalizing demand for Sony products like cameras and the PlayStation Vita." -2nd paragraph
To many, it is almost unreal to see smartphones becoming so powerful and more focused for personal entertainment, beating dedicated devices even at higher prices.
iDon't wanna be judgmental at this point tho.
The bean has partially been spilled...

So according to leaked spec sheet, the 7 inch xbox tablet will be an integral part of the "Stationary Computing Device" ( = xbox 720) ?
http://www.liveside.net/201...
Kinda confused here because if it's true then the xbox surface isn't a standalone gaming tablet.
edit: link's fixed.
Great score!
Edit: @ftwrthtx
Not trying to diss other platforms, any reason why it should include xbox 360 and pc in the tags?
The new controller doesn't really match the console in terms of shapes. I mean, it should look more boxy or sharp angled like the Transformers.
