Tomb raider was barely profitable and it was released in all platforms(except WiiU).
It's not a system seller.If Naughty dog release Uncharted at the same month tomb raider 2 will become that niche game that only the more enthusiast will buy.

Because devs will try to push the graphics more and more. Game developers don't share the same opinion about resolution and framarate as fans.
for them, if they need to choose between pretty graphics at 1080p/60fps or even prettier graphics at 1080p30fps they will choose the latter because they don't see the need of 60fps.It was always like that but people pretend that it's a new thing.
PS1 had the default res of 320x240 but the framerate sometime...
