People aren't seeing the big picture here.
When there are only 2 consoles that can compete in the market, it is really easy to get a good second place. The big problem her is how much money MS is spending to only get a second place.
This is really bad. Investors must not be very pleased with the results.

That will give the answer to where MS is actually going. An Xbone without a Blu-ray is nothing but a console with DRM and nothing more.

Is Sony using any of the 5 drm in the machine? Why? Because they saw the backlash MS with their former Xbox's artistique director. They were smart to listen to xbox's fan plea event before the sales numbers.
Microsoft wasn't capable of listening. They always thought that sony would be forced to follow them and that xbox's fans were sheap that would buy anything with an X. They were blunty wrong.

Steambox is around the corner. People are talking about Amazon getting in the business. They bought Double Helix. Even Apple is going forth. Nintendo is lost right now, and many constructors are looking into this to enter the gaming business. They are all going for first place.

Even if the studio is been honest, MS past behavior will remember those. Plus, when people see the studio always had good relation with MS, this will make people doubt the sincerity of those statements.
The problem is that, and this is recent pass, MS has cried to manipulate the general opinion with sketchy ways, example Machinima case, people paid to give good reviews, the PR lies and such...
So if people speak of conspiracy, you can blame MS.
