Yeah I get what you mean, not that it looks small by any means, just hard to get a sense of the scale of it all. And what with all the talk of it being bigger than the original San An, red dead and gta iv maps you expect something that looks huge. The proof is in the pudding though so this time next week I'm sure we'll all be saying "holy sh¥t, it's huge!"
He doesn't sound too impressed, the fact he states his lack of interest/experience in the franchise pretty much explains it though. I'm not saying he's wrong or his opinion doesn't count, just that it in no way affects my anticipation for this game as a kz vet and long time fan of the series

I totally agree about the characters being the integral part of the experience, but I also think that this game has the potential to give us that connection. The way I see it is that the characters in the last of us spoke to us in the way that characters in a book or award winning film might; they are limited in number and completely fleshed out but in a somewhat condensed timeframe. i been thinking that for a while, it needs the big franchises on board and then hopefully people would start lapping it up. i like my vita, but i hate how few great games are available for it once you've already rinsed the core library titles. still, killzone mercenary is right round the corner and i am gonna spank it silly...

I love the original to death, it was the first game on my psone that made me feel any sort of emotional attachment to the characters, the story and the music. That being said, I would play a remake. Believe me I'd love to play twin snakes but unless you have the Nintendo console it was exclusive to, that's not possible. For now ill keep playing the original on vita, but I'm not opposed to the idea of re-doing it for a new generation of hardware...
