Well, if they don't innovate - they won't capitalize on the current success achieved. Sure, they could add new levels, new moves, new enemies and a new story... but, that formula is limited and people will see through it quickly.
Adding customization and character development with an online component is the only logical next step if they really want to take this new series to the next level.
I would not be surprised if they leave the previous gen be...
Nerdstradamus prediction: The Nemesis system will be used in the sequel to Shadow of Mordor (of course...) But, what if they merged this system with asynchronous multiplayer?
So, they could add to the mechanics significantly and still offer an offline mode using pure AI - or opt for an online mode that merges character development, alliances, Uruks vs. Humans and a notification system that lets you know if your target is online or offline at the time.
If of...
Agreed... they did a good job keeping the variables contained, but it's still a lot of work.
Well, pay attention to the trends? Which games have heavily discussed glitches/errors/bugs? The popular games that are ambitious and innovative.
Change is difficult. If you aren't willing to take a few steps back you can go forward. If you despise any errors in a game, stick with titles that throw innovation out the window - Call of Duty, Sports games, puzzle games, platformers, etc...
Something like GTA V, with unlimited combinations of factors in both ...
True. Well, I did enjoy TH 1 and TH 2... so, if they pull off the arcade style again and actually innovate instead of giving it a nice coat of new paint, I'd pay attention.
But I'd pre-order Skate 4 today if it was announced.
Meh... unless they are trying to actually compete with EA's Skate series - I'd much rather have Skate 4... fingers crossed.
Skate 4 and a new Fight Night.

You can't handle it... straight 1.5" vert on that beast.
Let them work out the kinks, I'll continue to play on 360 as we patiently await the arrival on PC.
I can't wait to hear details about the replay editor.
I think it's funny that we both referred to him as "Good ole' Jack" at the same time... well done sir.
Did anyone watch the video? It's not really even about good ole' Jack... it's focused on this Anita chick.
It all seems silly. Let's just keep moving along and ignore these attention seeking idiots, they won't topple the first amendment. So don't even waste time watching/listening to their attempts to change the world based on their own opinion/agenda.
I've played GTA V & GTA: Online more than just about any other game I can think of... I have been holding out for the PC version since the day it came out on the last gen...
I can't tell you how tempting it is to buy this for the Xbox One, JUST to see the upgraded version prior to transferring my character over to the PC version permanently.
However, that is silly, I can exercise a small amount of patience.
Glad you are re-enjo...
LOL... aside from waiting on GTA V for PC, this was my 2nd to last reason for the 360.
I second this comment... RIP 360... hopefully the One cann truly fill your shoes.
Just in time for The Leftovers after Thanksgiving...
Politicians and for-profit industries cause whiny journalists...
Who could make money by causing a media whirlwind around video game violence? Multi-million dollar lawsuits against the game industry based on anything that may have been "inspired" by an interactive medium.
Follow just about any news story nowadays and it will lead you back to the corporate puppet masters controlling the news to lead the sheep exactly where they want them?
...
Yeah, me too, was planning on just getting it for PC for GTA:Online... but, this has me interested in replaying it again...
I did the same w/ GTA IV and the differences from console to PC were insignificant compared to V.
Can't effing wait.
Valid point, but, outside of sports games - wouldn't that comment apply to just about any video game?
To be fair, an ultra-realistic mode for GTA V would be kind of hilarious. One shot to the leg would have you limping/crawling until you called 911, crashes like that would be instant death/hospital... GTA V w/ Rainbow 6 rules... talk about a challenge.
Stop it.
You are actually comparing an open world game with one of the most dynamic online elements - to the linear, basic nonsense that is produced by Nintendo for teens and children?
The games ARE finished, they simply have so many variables and evolve over time that patches are required. It's a good thing. "Lazy and unprofessional" would be if a game was NEVER patched.
Did you play GTA: Online on day 1? If so, have you pla...
What?! Do you have any idea what goes into the game development process?
The day 1 patches/future patches are not high priority elements typically picked up by QA/testers. I'd bet $1,000 that you wouldn't even be able to tell the difference from a patched vs. non-patched game.
These aren't broken games... smh... these are responsible developers supporting their products.
People need to stop whining about every little thing.
What is the big deal? It's a patch, to make the game run better... would you prefer them to skip the patches and spend an extra year making sure the game is bug free? Or to have the occasional 2 minute delay to have a dynamically updated game.
Everyone is so butt-hurt from a Day 1 patch, it's not a big deal at all.
Short answer? Yes...
Look at the massive game library Hitler had.
Joking aside, this argument is ridiculous. It only acts as a scapegoat for the collective conscience, something must be to blame. Games fill this void more easily than music, TV and movies did.
