What about the people who bought the 360 core, what about the people who do not have the standard HDD? What about the people who don't have a broadband connection to download this "update" to enable the 360 to accomplish 1080p. This is the stuff people have to think about when arguing nonsense.
Most likely these "1080P" games on the core will be limited to 720P only.

Look we all know sony is using the ps3 to push the blu ray format even though it benefits the games greatly, I have no problems with that. The thing is your right, Sony will have an instant 500,000 sold blu ray drives on Nov 17. Regardless on which format looks better, it my opinion that the blu ray format will win this war solely on the PS3. It will be just like the PS2 did for DVD. No need to flame this is just an opinion of your above average gamer.

This rumor is just another example how people say one thing and say another. Before when gamers thought that MGS4 was just another ps3 exclusive they would talk down about it.
