Xbox One X since day one was clearly made for hardcore gamers who own 4k LG OLED TVs, Samsung QLEDs, and SUHDs with HDR support. It wasn’t made for the guy or gal that doesn’t spend thousands a year on games, and TVs. It’s for high end gamers which to us, “high end gamers” the price ain’t shit.

And that has everything to do with the developers, not the hardware of the Xbox one x. And not all checkerboard rendering is the same. The Xbox one x produces a much higher resolution of checkerboarding than the PS4 pro is capable of.
Nothing is overkill in gaming hardware when it works.
