I think it's more along the lines of... there's free to play MMOs that are still in beta (or were) that have more content than this. As much as I am a fan of FFXI, I find FFXIV to not only be absolutely unrelated to FFXI, but it's just not a good MMO in general in regards to other MMOs, including the free ones.
FFXI > FFXIV by a long shot.
Amen.
Please... for the love of God Square-Enix, make this game better than it currently is. If you make this game to be remotely as awesome as FFXI, this and Phantasy Star Online 2 will be the last two games I will ever need to buy.
Unfortunately, I don't see it scoring any higher than this. And I know for a fact that the game does not deserve any sort of perfect score in the current state it's in.
I was about to ask how people are even contemplating this over something else. It's a damn beta. Spending monthly just to TRY and get into it is silly, especially when the game comes out early 2011.
Nothing about your comment even makes sense.
"In many other games you can not even switch job jobs (wow). So yes its a great thing. Also you have whats called GEAR which will give you awesome stats."
What is this? What does WoW have to do with FFXIV? We're talking about Square-Enix here. The guys who went from FFXI to FFXIV, not WoW. FFXI let you switch jobs at any time without having to worry about waiting to use your job properly.
"First off you can reasign points anytime. You get 20% of your total points back every 20 mins. So you can infact play every single job but you will have to wait if you want to switch all your points."
And how is this a good thing, to wait to be able to use your job properly, which is what I've been asking?
"I can't understand how your phy rank has anything to do with anything"
You don't think that if I level t...

Does Move, or the PS3 itself do this? If Move doesn't do this, then I'm not sure how it can be factored in as features of Move.
How can they be unskilled if they're able to backstab you? That sounds more like a fail on your part.
Yes, he went through all the trouble and money to build a computer that doesn't work. Good job, genius.
It's leveling system is terrible due to the fact that your physical level never changes, forcing you to be proficient at only one discipline because the reassign button gives you a small fraction of what you spent in points thus eliminating the purpose of being able to switch jobs in the first place. There's no auction house, 80% of the "ranks" are crafting ranks which is unnecessary, and could have easily been made into a sub-category like FFXI had. The servers hardly work...
Implying FFXIV has any features to talk about. Rather, it's missing core features that actually make MMOs accessible. FFXIV should be marked down for these, not given the benefit of the doubt because Square-Enix rushed the product out, which most still consider a beta.
Look... I really have no reason outside of me seeing it's faults to hate on this game. It was one of my most anticipated titles that I was looking forward to.
I honestly have no doubt in my mind that later down the road, it will be a much more enjoyable experience. However, with that being said, I will still need to stand by my statement that the game is not worth the $50-$80 that people are paying for it right now, when there are most certainly other MMOs out there that ...
"See here is the thing. You WANT to hate this game."
"The fact that you are still complaining about the "Enemy is already engaged thing" tells me that you have not played the game recently(or at all for the retail release) as that issue is gone."
You're not even making any sense, and I'm the butthurt one?

I've ran across one of those "massive" areas in a span of 10-15 minutes. Compared to one of the beginning areas of FFXI such as La Theine Plateau, that's pathetic. FFXI and WoW were, and still are larger than FFXIV since the day they were released. The reason these "massive" areas are riddled with "hidden caves" (even though they're visible on the map), is because Square-Enix copy/pasted a lot of the landscapes for the areas. I guarantee you that you ...
Don't listen to the haters. They haven't had anything to play in a long while. Kinect will be pretty interesting later down the road, especially since it's already confirmed to be working in conjunction with the regular 360 controller with games like Steel Battalion and (hopefully) a new Panzer Dragoon title.
You honestly believe you could take down a group of people using a keyboard/mouse with a group of people using a controller? :/
EDIT @ Above

Kinect supports up to 4.
Odd, the people who come into my store to buy Playstation titles are either too poor to afford a PS3 and buy PS2 titles, or are kids with their parents who come in to buy Modern Warfare 2, Grand Theft Auto IV, or some other shooter on the PS3.
"anything they do not matter how long they've worked on it requires patches day-one of release."
How would this be a bad thing? It only means that the final game is out, and whatever bugs are found are immediately dealt with. The sooner the updates come out for the game, the better. And considering everything Left 4 Dead related that comes out on Steam is free, it's just icing.
