If anything, as a 35 year old professional (and avid gamer), I find gaming to be a way to reach out to younger generations who share this great hobby called "gaming".
Here's a good question. Why do previous generations feel the need to continue criticising younger generations for their "folly", when the younger generations know more about almost everything than they do?
This woman's attitude reeks of priveledged bigotry.
I think I might have to check that out...
I'll stop buying games.
I know that sounds bitter, I'm a little offended by this ignorant woman's conclusions. In fact my wife and I have a great understanding, I get to buy games and game hardware, she gets to buy nice shoes, purses, glasses, etc.
If men are little boys for gaming, women are little girls for dressing up. I actually think it's ok for any adult to do whatever the F they want to do. I'm not here to please this "writer", not my job. I ...
(shhh, it was a "she")
That cleared it up a bit for me.
Back to the article.
Look at this quote.
Kay S. Hymowitz wrote, "For the problem with child-men is that they're not very promising husbands and fathers. They suffer from a proverbial "fear of commitment," another way of saying that they can't stand to think of themselves as permanently attached to one woman."
Having read the article, it's pretty clear that this "writer" is a man-hating she-b!tch. She's probably fat, u...
Let me tell you why we get a bad rap from non-gamers.
They don't understand the passion of our hobby.
This is the FIRST generation, EVER, to have video games. I grew up with them as a child into adulthood. My parents and grandparents didn't have video games, so they understand them as "childish" because their "children" played them.
It's the same failure that the non-gaming society at large has for gamers... and the reason why...
I'm trying dude, you might have a leak in your bubble boat.
I read throught the forums of complaints and game blackouts are complete interent outages.
No COD4, no Email, no internet.
Nailed it.
Sony has left left it up to the developers whether they will include different aspects of the XMB in individual games.
Some games allow custom soundtracks, some games allow access to your friends list etc.
Some people, like me, think that Sony should remove the "option" from developers and include the XMB components at a core kernal level, while others feel that some games would benefit more by allowing the developers to pick a...
Maybe if they didn't charge full DVD price for a UMD?
given your proclivity for posting negative comments on PS3 threads.
And you're right about games improving on all hardware. I don't think anyone was really doubting that. This article is just talking about PS3 hardware programming, and it's very exotic hardware so we're in uncharted waters (another one) with the learning curve on this machine.
Many people are hopeful that we will see a bold new horizon with monumental breakthroughs in gaming technology this gen...
The SPU's all have their own Cache and they can all SHARE cache and threads with each other SPU INDEPENDANT (if programmed that way) of the PPU.
Very very different stuff now.
Thanks for the laugh Stu.
:)
Kind of like your presence on this thread?
-grasping at straws-
1. trying to find reasons to feel hopeful about a bad situation.
2. trying to find some way to succeed when nothing you choose is likely to work.
When a developer is beginning work on a sequel to a successful new IP, the gaming community wants to know how they're going to approach development in the SECOND GENERATION of a NEW console's life-span.
What they learned in the process of making the original...
What steps they can take to optimize code...
How THEY will tackle the Cell programming juggernaut...
News to everyone that cares, and that's plenty, even if you ain't one of 'em.
This is a hobby to many of us, and for some it's an actual career.
Why are you here?
And thanks for the chuckle. :)
