I completely disagree with your statement. The lawsuits were the result of the hackers breaking (wait for it...) the LAW. And now they're breaking the LAW again as "backlash"? The LAW protects the people's interests in this matter. Period....

Low-level formatting can be done through BIOS with SCSI controllers. It writes 1's or 0's across the entire drive.
