They both use SHIPPED to retailers for their PR statements. Nintendo's is just accurate because everything they ship to retailers is sold within an hour. However Ps3s aren't immediately sold so are off by a considerable amount. It's pretty easy to check just look @ NPD + Chart-track(NPD for UK) and the site that shows you Jpn numbers.... add those up and it comes in FAR under Sony's numbers. The only way sonys numbers are correct is if they outsold the Wii by like 5 to 1 in the rest of Europe...

Umm MS sold more so they "won"..... game sales don't scale with install base at all really.... if that was true do you think Halo or halo 2 would have sold 40 million copies on the Ps2? There's a reason that despite having 1/5th the install base MS kept up with Sony in Software numbers last-gen and it's the exact same here.
