by the looks of it.
tho SSHD drives will cache up the files most used.
meaning if they only did the test once without actually starting up the games once before it will be about the same speed as a normal HDD.
there was a Huge Diffrence in performance with an SSHD on the PS3. but that is only for the most used files.
http://www.youtube.com/watc...
also, you wont have diffrence in performance with an SSD if you have 90% free space or 1% free space. there is no difference. there is no movable parts.
your problem might be software/firmware related or a bad chip in the drive.
got two 240GB ssd's set in raid 0 here and i never see any problems when they have gotten full.
i really cant see a pure SSD working long time with a console.
that is if the console is making cache files and such on the drive under gameplay. witch i have heard the PS4 does. meaning it will take up space when you play a game and such. meaning alot more will be written with normal usage.
SSD's have a limit on how much that can be written on it.
if they somehow make an option in the OS to stop that and just use the pure performance of an SSD then it can work. as...
was really thinking about getting a 1TB SSHD for the PS4...... after much thinking i think im getting a 2TB drive instead. if the performance is good on it.
going 100% digital this gen if i can. and i love having alot on at once on my machine.
the problem with that trail of thought is that SSD's arnt meant to be rewritten alot. meaning you will have ALOT less life time of the SSD if you delete stuff and install new things ontop of it.
normal users will get more than 5 games a year atleast. and you will have to install all of them prob. i cant see a 250gb ssd lasting 5-6years....... unless you never fill it up or deleting anything
on a second note, get an SSHD instead. as a hybrid drive it wont have tha...
sata 3 is backward compatible. doesnt matter if its a sata 2 or 3 drive.
but i think the PS4 is only a sata 2 port tho. so you wont really get the full speed of the drive.
not that you get that with a sata 2 either.....
isnt it 15GB?
https://twitter.com/cjcool8...
thats true. also the allocated unit size has alot to say aswell. if its too high it will have less space to use.
also 3TB disks arnt 3TB they are 2.72TB that over 280gigs missing per drive.
you know that they take a % wise of the HDD for performance. not a specific size. if you put a 2TB in there it will take alot more than just 92gigs.
the PS3 did the same thing, have a 500gb in my PS3 but i can only use up too 465gigs or something.
really? it isnt even that hard......
its alot worse if you are trying to use the stealth ship and unlock the second version of it.
to unlock the second layout of the ship you have too do two of these tree things.
- Destroy a ship at full health during a single cloak in the Stealth Cruiser.
- In the Stealth Cruiser, avoid 9 points of damage during a single cloak.
- In the Stealth Cruiser, get to sector 8 without jumpin...
im not saying it looks bad. its just the quality of the screen grabs that look bad. no smooth colors at all.
apparently noone knows what color crushing is at all.
well its a low ass ppi in those screens at a really low file size. it doesnt do the game justice.
and i just love all the disagrees im getting.
either people are blind or dont know the difference between a good screenshot and a bad one when it comes to quality.
yay screenshots.
too bad they look like crap tho.
so much color crush.
think someone need move away from JPEG.......
hmmm most games today are steamworks, origin or uplay games.
all your games are there.
if you have fast enough internet it can be faster than finding your disk and putting it in and waiting for it to install. less CPU intensive aswell.
and when do you ever get a HDD failure? do you have a laptop that you move while being used?
been having my SSD's for over a year now and no problems what so ever.
only disks dieing are the once that i run To...
this is just for flaming and hits.
anyone that plays on PC download all the games from steam. noone buys a disk anymore. only time you use a disk is if you have your OS on a disk (usb is better) or a Motherboard driver.
you know they just released Dota 2 for the public less than 4 months ago right?
maybe they meant a streaming app, for like watching streams..... IDK
maybe XO got one and PS4 dont..... well its just a matter of time before we know it anyway.
Edit: yeah they did have it. i think there was a vid showing it on the OPSMag preview/review vid they had, later at the end that is. i know i saw both UStream and Twitch as an option when starting a stream
yeah found it here: htt...
look, i'm just saying that they would make a good deal.
they have had so much bad PR in the last few months. and the PS4 performs better that the Xbox One on more than one title.
they way they should bring the consumers back is with a better product and a better service.
Skype and other things throw into Xbox Live Gold would do it for most.
Online gaming shouldn't have a monthly fee,
using Netflix shouldn't have a monthly f...
the co-optional podcast is better IMO :3
dude. its really easy to see the difference, esp. on a monitor.
well we dont know at all how they did these tests.
for all we know they might have just tested this once. that wont show the performance of an SSHD. you need files to be loaded more than just once for it to be picked up by the solid state part of the drive.
say if you are loading up Killzone every day and over a week. by the end of that week you WILL see a huge difference in performance over a normal drive.
