Waiting to June is way too risky.
February will be the 6th month in a row where Sony gets outsold in the US by Microsoft and it seems that the figure is similar (yet not by such a large margin) in worldwide sales. Add to this the fact that KZ2 was "strategically" scheduled for late March, which means, spreading its thunder into two different months... how brilliant ...
By June, Sony will have been in the trail for 10 months in a row (Yes, almost a Year) in ...
Hardware wise, the PS3 is awesome. Could've been better? Definitely, without those bottlenecks in memory and GPU that keeps it from unleashing its true power, but it's still an awesome piece of hardware.
It's financially were it had its problem. By being too ahead of its time with Blu-ray, it didn't make financial sense, was positioned way to expensively and a world crisis didn't help Sony.
There are other components that also keep it from being the definitive choice...
Tecmo did this because it seems that now that Itagaki is gone, Microsoft has no interest in their franchises anymore or at least, not as much interest as in the past.
They're in serious financial trouble and without his biggest game creator they are performing obscure business tricks to milk Itagaki's work.
This will work in the short term, but at an awful cost in terms of business reputation. I wonder what's there beyond Itagaki.
@InfectedDK
Did MS own Bioware back then?
Does MS own EPIC?
MS even secured 2 chapters of GTA IV exclusively, there's no reason to think they can't have a deal with EA for Mass Effect.
Bioware in 2007:
"We currently have no plans for Mass Effect on PS3"
2009 and there's still no ME on PS3.
The only message I get from this is from Sony fans:
"We Really, really (did I say really?) want this fantastic game"
^^
When KOTOR and Jade Empire released, there were more than 50-80 millions PS2s around... yet they stayed Xbox exclusives.
Bioware made Mass Effect 2 to be underrated due to lack of polish. All other aspects of the game from story, character development, sound and visuals were incredible.
If they keep up with this quality standard and take their time to polish it more, I'm sure you'll have a 9.3-10 scores galore all over the place, and there's no reason to think otherwise. They already have experience with the software and hardware and are not rushing the game to hit xMas.
Ehm... * cough *
As I mentioned earlier, Microsoft does his job:

"No Mass Effect 2 for PS3"
Did anyone said "sinking ship"? =)
We all knew this.
You can't blame Sony boys for desiring so deeply the best RPG of this generation though.
Excellent way of starting next year.
Keep the current production values and storyline quality, and fix some bugs here and there and you'll have the best RPG of this generation.

I Wonder how is Resistance 2 doing on PSN :P
Not bad for an originally playstation franchise. The same happened with Devil May Cry 4. Also, we still need to see those US numbers, which should turn the tables in the final count.
Unfortunately, (and disappointingly), Itagaki left a lot of room for improvement with NG2. I expected a lot more but for some reason, it didn't arrive.
In terms of Gameplay, Ninja Gaiden 2 was way too similar to the first one, and this is why I didn't even beat the game even when I was a big fan of the first part. It just felt way too familiar to me, without any surprises in the road. Visually, it had its great moments, but for the most part, it wasn't the visual greatness the fi...
Fanboys are funny.
Wasn't NG2 the game that suppossedly sucked? And now you're partying all over this announcement. (Obviously it will be a NG2 port with more content)
This was bound to happen anyway, Itagaki and friends left TECMO leaving the company in uncertainty. The easiest way to get money without much effort is making Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 for the PS3. I wouldn't be surprised if it looked better on PS3 since NG2 was quite a dissapointment from a visual standpoi...
There's been a lot of things "impossible" for the Xbox 360.
First it would be Assassin's Creed. Believed to be PS3 exclusive and "impossible" on Xbox 360. Similar fate had this title called "Devil May Cry 4" and we all know how it ended up.
Then MGS4 was released... with great graphics, lightning and detail... totally out of the Xbox 360's league. Later though, Resident Evil 5 was launched with even more impressive visuals, detail, light...
It's weird when somebody has to write and article about the obvious to state exactly that... the obvious. Once we have confirmed dates from both companies (most likely after E3) we can start talking about which system has the best lineup. Before that, everything is speculation and in the wrost of cases, fanboyism.
^^
ONE AAA this year and you think the PS3 has already won the year. Back in 2007 the Xbox 360 had the strongest exclusive lineup ever for a game (and still is) Microsoft doesn't need to unveil undisclosed projects. All they need to do is confirm what has been in the works for a while now, i.e. Splinter Cell V (Splinter Cell on Xbox was rated way higher than KZ2 i.e.) Alan Wake which looks extremely promising, Halo ODST also is a title not to be understimated and there's defini...
Isn't Microsoft the same company that starts the year with low profile and then unveils a fantastic lineup?
I don't get why people would be so naive it's going to be different this time around, with the guys more time in the market and a lot of potential sequels in the cook.
There's nothing to be worried a lot. There's potentially a lot to be hyped about on the other hand. Just wait for MS to show their cards, and for Sony to confirm dates. Remember KZ2 was thought t...
Proof of one of the weirdest timming I've ever seen for a big franchise.
Killzone 2 released right at the end of the month and it was largely outperformed by other titles. The hardware impact is barely visible as well.
