I think it has alot more to do with the hype surrounding Zelda titles. Correct me if I'm wrong but Nintendo drops Mario titles at a much higher frequency than anything else in thier stable, making anything new generally more desirable. That and I feel Zelda is way more accessible to people who suck at platformers, like me lol. Mario has been testing my patience since the Wii, so much damn precision required...

Remind me what the elite 2.0 controllers offer over the current version? I have 2 currently and never really felt they needed an update, I guess maybe ability to adjust tension on the thumbsticks might be one. They were also running that Promo where you got $150 for an XB1, $250 for a PS4/XB1S & $300 for XB1X/Ps4P towards the purchase of a new switch. Great month for 360 titles, X1 titles remind me of early days when all they gave away were indies, I hope they dont start doing that again.
PUBG lost my interest about 10-12 games in...It felt bland/mundane to me, graphics were stale and It felt so weird to Die and get chucked to the title screen, I know they added spectate afterwards, by then the game was a distant memory to me.
I see they're starting to raise the quality of available titles, This service will likely be amazing when nex gen launches especially if they keep 1st party titles Day1 on it. Imagine all these recently acquired studios, all dropping a launch title, that would be awesome. And if they tossed in a free month as well it would simply be icing.

Only reason I went 100% Digital this gen for PS4/XB1 was the fact that no game is 100% on a disc anymore, it's all just massive updates Day 1....
There's no need for the program granted thier competition has also recently dropped thiers, Just a ripple effect.
