Also, this is made by Rebellion, the original creators of AvP, but also some horrid games like the recent ShellShock 2 or Raven Squad.
I loved the demo, but it really wasn't the best way to promote the choises and consequences, because the scenes almost always played exaclty the same and the choices you make only affect when you play the game for some time.
But oh boy, I cannot wait to discover how the story unfolds!

The reason why Alan Wake has taken so long, is because it's a new IP with new engine and gameplay.
Max Payne 1 took 6 years to make.

Alan Wake and GT 5 are not delayed. Both games had a same release date a few years ago: When it's done.
Alan Wake has not been delayed, it is just the shop manufacters that create the release dates from their creative heads.

Remedy has stated that they were always driving for the +16 rating. They do not need to show extreme gorefests nor nudity. Would these matters really increase the true maturity of the game? I think they could even decrease it!
