Keohler, you have been saying what I have, if people use linux to render they could custom buy a PC and run linux on it and install a distro on it, you can even have multiple OS' on one computer, my current computer runs Ubuntu Linux and Windows XP, I decided to install ubuntu to try linux out, and since I heard it was the most new-to-linux-friendly distro, I'm not sure if the Cell has much of a difference in rendering 3D compared to high end PC processors such as the Intel i7, and if it does...

Video games are art, by my definition of art, this debate on what is art has beeen going on for over 100 years, my definition of art is: Something one uses a learned skill to create un-uniformally

By Un-Uniformally I mean without it being the same, because without it being like that people working on a production line for cars would be artists, they must create the idea themselves and bring it out visually with skills they have learned, a few examples of what I would denote art w...

Not that I know of, technically by downloading it you are doing something illegal, the Cross Days thing where they uploaded screenshots of pirates' desktops was technically illegal for malware and invasion of privacy, but with these things the logic seems to be two wrongs make a right

Age of Technology != usefullness

Some people will comment saying this is bad but have never used a command line based system, most computers use GUI now which makes for a lot more heavy system requirements. Using CLI isn't as difficult as people want to make it to be, it's a bit inconveniencing to memorize a plethora of commands at first but once you learn them it's like riding a bike, you never forget it.

I use linux occasionally and find parts of CLI more conveni...

You do realize they don't constantly use the same IP right? And that IP's get changed from person to person periodically, whereas a IP from something like media defender may have been blocked a few weeks ago it could be a legit peer now, and since that IP is blocked you can't share with them.

Private Trackers don't help much since most of the anti-piracy groups are still scraping the tracker to get your IP, which can be done without registration, Warner Brothe...

looks really good and fun, I hope it's as good as the Prime games were.

@DarkMurder

You do realize peerguardian only slows your download speed down right? The IP's of the RIAA/MPAA are changed often for that reason.

I find it hypocritical when theres videogame piracy articles and they're saying it's the end of the gaming industry but the general consensus on this one is it's okay if it's a TV Show/Movie?

Let's face it, their copyrights are worth more than our human rights, if you let someone btorrow a movie/game/etc, you have ...

Whats with all the hate with gamestop? Let's remember some key points here that most have forgotten, or are compelely oblivious to.

-Gamestop is a company, they want your money
-People no longer think videogames are as complicated, anyone can/will get a job there if they need to
-It pays minumum wage, few people will be working there for their whole lives, and if they do, they wont be able to support much of a family from not having enough money
-Gamestop employ...

The PS3 would be hacked eventually whether or not he did it, and all the exploit he made did was unlock the security features, he didn't make it able to pirate things, someone else could but hes said he won't.

Sure a feature getting removed is never a good thing, but who actually uses linux on their PS3? I haven't known anyone online of offline that does, though it is sad since I like linux but thats more for PC's really. The way people are freaking out is crazy, it's like someon...

I feel things having to be excessively realistic is bad, there should be a balance beetween the two, I remember back in the PS2 era when a game had silly stuff you played with it and made jokes with friends about it, even on the internet, however now if it doesn't apply to the best physics possible it gets treated as trash. I personally feel if it was more wacky as it could be back in the day (not excessively, but it could be made with cheats like big head mode show wireframes etc) it may hel...

I can't tell if this dudes joking or serious, seriously all these things are what made us love pokemon as kids, and most people getting into pokemon at a older age probably wouldn't like it if they hadn't as kids. It's a game, it doesn't have to make sense.

I agree, however people can't all pay for every single game they play, some can, but usually thats rich kids that shortly after getting cut off from mommy and daddy has to move back in.

I rent some games, I can't afford to buy them all, it would be better if the developers got a cut out of it though.

Also, I'm surprised N4G picked this up, this story is like a week old. The Japanese are obsessive about buying things, they don't have much to w...

"Personally I find extremely funny how some writers apparently strive for gender-equality in gaming, and then complain when such an equality is actually applied. Mind you, I personally hate trash talking and goading during an online gameplay, but regardless of the gender of both the victim and the perpetrator."

Oh lord this, I get so sick of it when womens rights people (and black rights people) contradict themselves about their male opressors. One minute they're talkin...

I"m not saying no DRM will stop it, I think it's a step in the right direction, there are those who would pirate it just because it had that DRM, but those who would pirate just to get it for free will pirate it regardless of whether theres DRM.

However if they started recording IPs and sending out tickets in a mass number people would be less likely to pirate things, they may move away from torrents to something encrypted, but most websites log...

I agree with this girl, "casual" has just been used most of the time to define a game you don't like.

Personally I make a distinction between the two like this. A hardcore gamer may play games around 10+ hours a week while a casual gamer plays them only a few hours a week (1-3 hours)

I'd rather us all just be gamers and not have casual and hardcore lingo, I'd rather people just shut up and play.

You can't fix piracy, no matter what you do you're only harming the legit customer, DRM encourages crackers to crack programs, they aren't doing it for money, most of them do it because they find it a fun challenge, and most of the piracy is from music in which case most is from teenagers who use limewire and don't even know how it works.

Piracy isn't as bad as people think it is, and every time I have said this on here I have gotten disagrees, Remember when home taping was kill...

For some reason I think every person submitting articles about gamer girls are lonely guys, first off if a girl threatens to leave you for playing video games (or something else that is going to be the end of the world /sarcasm) or tries to "change" you she doesn't love you in the first place, it's what irritates me the most about people and the biggest reason I think there are so many divorces, the husband and wife just dont like a few MINUTE things eachother do, and instead of put...

for that price it isn't cheap compared to hard drives with far more storage, for under $100 you can get a 1TB HDD

I don't see the big deal with this, it's only up to 16GB drives, and for the price of two you could probably get another (and larger than 32GB) hard drive.

Would help people who have them laying around and not using them though

People give out personal info too easily, my parents refuse to buy a shredder, or run a virus scan /EVERY/ time before they input personal info like credit card numbers and they've had their identity stole three times.

Computers aren't as unsecure as people think they are, it's idiots that refuse to secure them and take security measures. It goes to the analogy why do we keep locks on our doors when they can be broke? It's nice to have that extra bit of security, however when it...
