If GFWL worked well enough for it to be that easy, no one would have a problem with its inclusion.

It's not about getting Steamworks, it's about getting rid of GFWL. It just suggests Steamworks because it's a given that Namco will want to use some kind of DRM/multiplayer framework, so they might as well use the most accepted one.

Yeah, I wouldn't risk an online profile with this one either. After losing my Batman saves, I don't think I could handle seeing a character I've spent 50 hours on disappear on me.

As kevnb said, there's a big difference between GFW and GFWL. GFW is just a certification stating that the game meets certain quality requirements regarding installation, 64-bit support, and other things. GFWL is an actual service managing online features of the game, save management, and patching.

The only problem is, it doesn't do any of those things well. Even worse, Microsoft doesn't even really support it any more, so there's no chance of improvement. Mi...

There's no reason why it would be Origin-exclusive. It makes some sense for EA's own titles to be exclusive because they're trying to promote the platform more than maximize near-term sales. However, for anyone else it would just be unnecessarily giving up a solid chunk of their sales.

The article has nothing to do with PCs. It's about competition between mobile devices and consoles.

I really don't think this game is going to do very well. The console versions are already well out of the top 50 on Amazon, and without the high profile of Battlefield 3 or SWTOR, it's absence from Steam will really hurt its visibility on PC.

That's some serious sensationalism. If you read the tweets, it's just friendly banter.

The article has nothing to do with graphics. The writer is criticizing the focus on big budget mega-franchises at the expense of a more creative and less risk-averse small-budget gaming scene.

Yes, DirectX is a Microsoft product, but it's just a graphics API, a software layer running on the CPU that interfaces with a machine's graphics driver. Like OpenGL, it allows programmers to write code that can run on any supported GPU instead of writing low-level code for each card.

So while Sony won't be using DirectX itself, there's no reason for them not to use a GPU just because it can support it.

A "DirectX 11 GPU" is just one that meets the hardware- and software-support specifications to qualify it as being DirectX 11 compliant. It doesn't imply any form of exclusivity. Any consumer GPU you might buy will have support for both DirectX and OpenGL.

Great, I can handle that. Thanks for the reply!

Anyone know how long it is? Trying to figure out if I have enough time to play it tonight.

If you think of your screen as a window into the game world, sitting two feet away from a 22" monitor (a typical PC setup) provides a relatively larger window than sitting 8 feet away from a 42" TV (a typical console setup). Not only that, but there's a much larger variety of PC setups in general--anything from a 17" monitor to a 60" TV, various aspect ratios, multiple monitors, you name it...and on top of all that, personal preference plays a role as well. So giving a...

There's no point right now, as we fully install our games to drive anyway. The only benefit to Blu-ray would be saving a one-time disk swap or two during installation (maybe 10-20 seconds of saved time per install, which doesn't justify the cost). It's not like consoles, where spreading a game across multiple, smaller disks means having players do swaps during actual playtime.

I agree about the control scheme. I've done multiple, full playthroughs with both 360 gamepad and KB/M on Arkham Asylum and have tried both with Arkham City and the reviewer is just confusing his own personal preference with an objective judgement.

Truth is, the controls are fantastic with either scheme. It's one of the few games I can say with no reservations, "go with whichever you prefer in general."

Can't wait to see the mods the community comes up with for this game.

This article doesn't mention the over 500,000 digital copies purchased through Origin, which puts PC sales right around a million copies. Considering how much more profitable those digital copies are, total PC profit is probably right around that of the PS3.

Furthermore, expect to see the PC have an increasingly large share of lifetime sales for the game, as sales there do not decrease as rapidly after the first week as they do on consoles. The same thing happened with B...

According to the LA Times (via Joystiq), 2 million copies were sold, 4.6 million shipped.

Nothing he said has anything to do any part of your comment. I suppose he does mention consoles, but it has nothing to do with the "PC vs Consoles" war.
