Even today 4GB is medium range, in 4 years it will be laughable.

For one, the RSX and Xenons where the top notch GPU's at the time of their release.
Nvidia claimed that RSX (at the time of PS3 release) would be their most powerfull GPU at the time.
It' wasn't, but that was because Sonye delayed console's release (due to some blue ray diodes). Still, RSX was top notch GPU at the time.
Now, with that in mind, we can expect similar situation for PS4/Xbox3.
