with my comment above my computer only cost me $400 and it will blow the doors off 360 or ps3, even though i love my 360. i did have a ps3 but i hated the controller could never get use to it, and sold it.
if ms comes out with the 720 i will buy it , because i believe that both ms and sony kinda failed this gen. both consoles need more ram badly. I just built a pc with a 2.6 ghz amd dual core and 2gigs of ram with a 9800gtx+ and it can do what no console can even think of doing. this gen of consoles is starting to lag behind badly in terms of graphics, we need the next gen within the next 2.5 years.
is just as stupid as xbox avatars. i want to play games , thats it , no stupid program to try to convince me that one console is superior to another. and oh yeah , if there are enough good games on a system you dont need a home or avatars.
compare a ps3 or xbox360 game to a pc game right now. the pc games are vastly superior when it comes to graphics and the shear amount on screen at one time. take crysis for example , beautiful game , one of the reasons it required so much processing power is because it so much going on at one time in a huge world all of it {background and foreground} alive and running without loading. no console right now could even attempt the scale of crysis.

if a game is in the bargin bin that means that there is not much demand for it, at that price. its the same as when the ps3 or xbox 360 have a price drop, its not because the hardware is cheaper to make, its because most people willing to buy the product at that price have already bought it.
