I agree - the point of games is creativity and to build games people like. What do all these idiots mean by "Hardcore" games?? how lame!

;) I meant to push it - it was mostly tongue in cheek; 6 year old technology that struggles to keep above 30 fps @720p isn't producing next-gen visuals no matter how many tricks are used. It does look very good, however.

Next-Gen?? This is Next-Gen in every way for sure!

Wow what a disgusting idiot - it's sad when gross idiots like are busy pointing fingers at ridiculous things instead of solving problems and creating solutions. He is molesting the American people with his politics.

He seems to be suggesting that the technical leap has more to do with the cost and size of employing teams than actual hardware - "I think they'll be better prepared, shall we say - but we can't see a ten-fold team increase again as the budgets would just be ridiculous."

I would think they definitely want major developers shifting support to the PS4, so that there will AAA games ready for launch as opposed to those games coming to the PS3 - that would be detrimental for sure and not a very wise business move. Hopefully, Sony's first party games are in development as we speak.

Glad that Microsoft isn't being one-dimensional! I play games but enjoy many other forms of digital entertainment as well, and I'm excited that I can have one piece of hardware as my entertainment hub.

Why in God's name would anyone wish for an OLD Cell??? you could wish for the Power7 or Power7+ CPU which performs out-of order execution, can do double precision (the Cell is mostly crippled when doing this), can have up-to 4-way SMT per core, and all are full CPU cores??? This would be a much more ideal chip for games especially considering the ability to do out-of-order execution which is much better suited for AI and physics...

Thanks for the cut and paste reply -"Most hunter kill what they eat." As I said I live in the Southeast and also have been hunting many times myself as I grew up and not arguing about whether they eat their kill. However, I know most are far more excited about killing than eating - just sit and listen. That's a problem when you're "excited" about killing or taking a life even if it is an animal. They don't hunt because of their need for food - they hunt becaus...

The NRA is full of a bunch killers themselves... they enjoying hunting and such not because it is a true necessity but because they enjoy the sport of shooting and killing something. You may ask how I can make such a blanket statement - well, I've lived in east Tennessee my whole life and been around the type that would start a war over their guns. And most of their talk is about how awesome it feels when they kill some unsuspecting animal - lame.
The gun laws don't benefit ...

In actuality they vary very little these days in only that video games require physical user interaction; huge budget games incorporate many of the same production personnel as movies such actors, musicians, writers, and game designers = directors.

Another whiny article about games and creativity... IT'S a BUSINESS and developer's give the people what they want to buy; and in the end, they're in it to MAKE MONEY doing something they love (generally).
"This simple fact tells you that gamers are hungry for something different, something fresh." Wow - an award based on opinion is now a simple fact? - so lame. The simple fact is that consumers chose games they wanted.
The truth is that all these g...

The choice of 30 or 60fps will depend on the standard that the Console Manufacturer sets for the games being produced. But if left up to each individual game producer, it will obviously vary as there can always be trade-offs between frame rate, resolution, graphics fidelity, AI, polygon count(size of the sandbox and model detail), shader effects and such. How can anyone not understand this?

@DeadlyFire - you have erroneously lumped AMD with Intel: AMD does not make a performance equal to Intel's iCore 7 CPU's especially on the FPU and SIMD side. And you're wrong if you believe all x86 cpu's are superior to Power7. Only the best i7 core can compete with the lower end Power7 architecture.
Popularity has nothing to do with performance - that's a first grade argument! The reason Desktops are still using the x86 CPU is because of backward compatibility an...

These systems were out of juice 2 years ago - now it's all programming tricks and more efficient use of resources and trades-off that we don't necessarily notice.

If the the Xbox has the rumored 6-core Power7 cpu at 3.7 ghz - then that's a beast compared to Wii U's 3 core PPC750 @ 1.3ghz - Lame that I'd get disagrees, but whatever.
