Sony's behemoth machines have already put themselves in the throne where very few kings sit. PlayStation 5 will join the short list of home consoles that broke the 100 million sold mark. This will be the 3rd time Sony Interactive Entertainment break THEIR OWN RECORD.

It's PlayStation. A household name/brand. Many are going to buy the next iteration regardless. I've owned every PlayStation since PS1 which my parents bought me in 1996. It has become tradition to just get the next one.
Sony's earned the position to just chill and move at their own pace. It didn't happen overnight. Brand recognition, brand power.

Xbox doesn't have worldwide appeal. The Series X reveal trailer was uploaded on Youtube in December and had after a few months 12,5 million views. The PS5 reveal trailer had 17 million views after just 2 days. Also, the PS5 event was the most watched gaming livestream in Youtube history.
