Factually, LucasArts had very little to do with that beyond the license. In fact I think they pulled whatever support they had and left it to EA/Bioware.

That it might actually get made. LucasArts clearly wasn't interested in it.

More talented and better companies have been lost for a lot less.

LucasArts did this to themselves. They had the Star Ware franchise. Yet they managed to make more crap SW games than good one. Then, what good games there were they ignored.

Not like Battlefront 3 was a risk. In the long list of game ideas, that's like #1.

LucasArts died a long time ago.

1313 was not even close to being finished.

And really aside from the fact that it was about bounty hunters and took place on Coruscant, nothing else was know about the game.

My guess is that since Disney is shifting focus from the Clone Wars era to the New Republic era, even should they decide to revive it, things will change.

I really don't have a clue what Disney plans for SW games. But there is hope.

Let's face i...

Worse than what? What you saw at E3 was not the final product. We weren't even told who the main characters were going to be.

Aside from the demo there was no info on the game at all.

This is all on LucasArts itself. Its been making so many poor decisions over the last couple of years its a wonder they weren't shut down a long time ago.

Fact is they have been a so-so publisher and a mediocre developer. Better studios have been lost for far less.

As far as Disney is concerned, well Star Wars is, as a franchise, at most "pg-13". Disney has put out that level of stuff in the past.

Disney bought the license for ...

You didn't actually read the article, did you?

The point of it was that in the case of Lara Croft's coming of age/survival story she kills a ridiculous amount of people.

The article points out that this makes sense for games like Gears, but that in a game like Tomb Raider, its hard to reconcile the narrative with the body count.

War is not the only conflict. And what is being said here is that games are becoming capable of presenting...

Always trying to use the latest and greatest is sinking this industry in production costs. Which means that even if it sells well, it will fail.

Next gen will come with a price.

When people started acting like the current gen was "so yesterday" at just the announcement of the PS4.

And the one thing getting in the way of those possibilities was LucasArts.

Not sure if that disagree was you but in response to it I would say that had it not been for a great franchise like SW, LucasArts would have tanked years ago.

This is a company that clearly did not understand what its customers wanted. It would be like Dice, after hearing how much people wanted BF4 decided to make some generic platformer.

@dedicatedtogamers

False.

So have I. I was without internet for 2 weeks and had not one issue. Only thing Steam did was ask if it try to connect again of go offline.

Rage wasn't open world like Skyrim. If it had been used the install probably would have been 1 TB.

4709d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

@NukaCola

Please explain what idtech5 would do for Fallout.

As someone who played that glorified tech demo we call Rage, all I saw was a 25 gig install, static environment and crap textures.

I thought this was common knowledge. The characters were stand ins and weren't going to be in the final game.

Frankly I'm glad LucasArts is gone. They were a cancer on a near bulletproof franchise.

The license is still alive. Big question is what will Disney do with Star Wars overall.

But no matter what they decide it will be better than LucasArts.

"You want Battlefront 3? Okay, here's a generic TPS, enjoy!&q...

No, it really wasn't.

The sub-plots (Mordin, Legion, etc.) were great. The overall plot was a rush job.

Had an actual 3 act trilogy been planned from the very start with a little longer dev time, it might have been the best one.

And really, there was no excuse for that initial ending cinematic. It was the only ending that mattered and it made no sense.

The final mission was pretty lame as well. ME2 was far better.

This is fairly common in the movie and games industry. So if you are looking to get into either prepare to move a LOT.

4709d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

If you have to ask, then probably not. Not like there is a sharp division in opinions.

If you're on the fence in spite of the 10/10 reviews it keeps getting then you probably wouldn't like it.

More now than ever HL2 is a game of its time just like the first.

Were someone experienced in modern shooters to pick up HL1 they wouldn't see what was so great. At the time, there wasn't anything like it. Same with HL2.

So it really depends on one's context.
