Yeah PewDiePie makes some serious money from YouTube vids. But he probably isn't doing FFXIV: ARR. Pretty sure I heard something about Tobuscus boycotting the game, too, because of this policy.
But...but... we could've been the next big thing, mayne.
It's a pretty decent MMO (much better than their first attempt at XIV) but I understand where you're coming from. I always like to check out gameplay vids of PvP and such before diving into dropping $$ on a game, especially one with a subscription fee.
Yup, fully aware of that. It's just the fact that most of the guys that monetize their videos on YouTube are the big ones that have 100,000+ subscribers. Why wouldn't you want to tap into those fan bases for FREE? I think as long as the videos aren't completely bashing the game or promoting exploits / hacks that it should be allowed. The only reason it isn't is because Square Enix wants the cash. This has happened with a few other games in the past and that's all it boiled...
Could be said about a lot of games, really. I don't get it either. It's free advertising and it reaches more people than they could ever hope to. Plus it's a better advertisement for their game because these YouTube creators do a lot more than just 30 second, cinematic preview shots. I think Square Enix made a very bad move not allowing people to use the vids.
@SirBradders - Very true. The PS3 version doesn't look too shabby.
Yeah I think the recommended specs are a bit much tbh. The game runs fine on even a basic PC setup (tested it myself during beta) so I don't see anyone needing those sorts of specs.
Yeah, apparently a lot of people are getting the 3102 error. I never got any errors during the open beta but I know a lot of others did. I would assume they'll have it resolved by the time it launches officially, though. Early access starts on the 24th so they have a few days.
The beta had a ton of players online. I'm not surprised there were some errors. I'm sure they'll work it out before the game officially launches. It is rather entertaining, though.
Ain't that the truth. Sneaky lil' bastards.
It is. They look pretty badass in-game, too. Although some of them look like the cyborgs from Mortal Kombat.
How do people find the coding for websites? Wouldn't that be considered hacking?
Servers on all platforms have been pulled down for emergency fixes. Apparently the new patch was allowing item duplication. As of 2 hours ago there is no official ETA of how long the downtime will last.

USB storage is great and all, but the 360 only supports up to 32gb sticks. Hopefully Xbox One supports a lot more than that if there aren't going to be hard drive upgrades available.
Same. They said it was delayed, though. Hopefully the DLC will be releasing sometime soon.
It does have a fairly interesting story for PvE if you keep up with it. I haven't made it all the way through yet but someone said it takes around 60-70 hours to complete the main story line in Defiance.
Most weapons have pretty similar stats, no matter what rarity they are. Legendary weapons are slightly better but you can majorly upgrade other rarity weapons to be just as strong using mods. Find a weapon type you're comfortable with (SMG, LMG, Infector, whatever) and try upgrading a blue or purple weapon (might have to add mod slots) and you'll still have a decently powerful weapon.
Yeah, it's a pretty decent game. Can't wait for the DLC to start dropping for it.
I bet there will be more codes released in the future. I'm sure they'll do something cool and do a giveaway of some sort with them.
The comments on the URL for the article are pretty funny, too. Good find.
