Since all the Watch Dogs conspiracy theories are the rage right now, we will probably start to hear of 'downgrades' every single time a game get's released.
The gaming community seems like they will jump onto any game criticism band wagon and become insta-experts on the subject. Just look how many expert 3D animators and graphic designers we have in the community now!!!
The biggest problem is that those franchises are going to affect the rest of the industry. People are going to view Titanfall as their inspiration. Look at how Japanese games changed completely virtually overnight after COD4.

I never noticed this hand holding you speak of in AC3. Noted, in many missions it was wayyyyy easier to take one particular route (often the most direct route), but still I would never have said the game was dumbed down. It was a great game!
