That's not true. Some games like MAG are several times worse because there are trophies. Countless times you will see people do whatever they please for a trophy. This includes allowing enemies to win, trying to stay alive, team killing, and much more. Even a few people trying for a trophy can ruin the experience.

This is also true for a lot of online experiences.

Demo 2.0 caused people to focus on blowing up buildings...

Maybe I missed it cause I skimmed, but I think the real reasons are not being touched on. Personally I believe there were two key factors...

1) Does anyone remember when Eurogamer (thats the site right? I tried to block it out) gave Uncharted 3 a 8/10.

For most games a 8/10 is a good score. Many games score very low or cap off at the 6 or 7 range. Despite this, many users protested this score. N4G was littered with editorials on the subject. So one person th...

@ Knifefight

Considering the requirements to earn 3 stars is fairly low (1 marvelous and another rating is instantly 3...), most will figure it out like this, but if you're in doubt you can always read the manual.

"Sumioni: Demon Arts has branching storyline with events playing out differently based on your performance."

Also various news sites reported that it was based off performance too. 5214d ago 1 agree1 disagreeView comment

Sadly, I think people will take this one as the more accurate one. Sumioni will suit a minority, though the quality between reviewers is quite vast.

On PSLS side you have "With 30 stages, it may initially sound as if there is a good amount of lasting value in Sumioni, but numbers are misleading. A lot of players will be playing in the first few over and over and over again, not really knowing if they’re even doing the right thing to move on." so its pretty clear he...

Actually this is an overarching issue that isn't limited to scores.

Take the recent RE: Mercs save problem. Prior to Merc's, Super Monkey Ball also had the same save locking. However, Mercs was an issue, but Monkey Ball wasn't. If you look into it, many people wrote off Monkey Ball because it wasn't as popular as RE or it wasn't Capcom. How can A be acceptable, but B be unacceptable if they're exactly the same? The same goes for fighting game costumes...

Indeed. I don't see why anyone is listing "quick" platinum times for anything. If you're fast enough, you can do God of War 1 in around 4 hours, but that doesn't mean the average person will do it in 4 hours.

@ Smashman98

So what? The xbox side has level hackers and im sure ps3 side has something too. Just because some people don't play by the rules, doesn't mean the whole system is doomed to fail.

I can keep explaining this in great detail, but just because some people want to do thing's their way, does not mean the game wouldn't work. Just means some will be enjoying their game ,their own way. Being mad at this is like complaining that someone i...

I love how people complain that IGN is way too harsh and giving it a 3 wrong, but giving it a 8 is too generous.

No idea on I am alive, though I've seen many low scores for it.
Silent Hill follows the standard storyline, so it's predictable and could use some small tweaks. While I don't think it's a 4.5, it's certainly not an amazing game either.
Dead Souls uses the left thumbstick to aim (from what I've read), which in it of it's self makes it awful (if true).
Demographics 101. Most NG fan will read it and casual people who know it's hard won'...

@ Omega (the 2-3 gap reply):

You can't control who gets what. Being a fan vs being a non fan vs how many games you play vs how far you get vs how well you know the series vs skill.

Too many elements come into play which allow for different scores. In the end, it's not meant for every reviewer to agree, but for them all to offer their views on everything. While not everyone will be perfect, once you get an idea of how everything works, you should get ...

While I would normally agree with this statement, Ninja Gaiden is only known for difficulty. This is like if they made the next Souls/King's Field game a action hack and slash. While this sounds like a small minor thing... this is a HUGE change in direction.

Additionally, unlike a lot of changes, the average consumer will be scared off over difficulty (as it's the main thing people think of with it), so ultimately it appeals to a group that most likely won't pick...

The only "reboot" done right, was Spelunker. Unlike the other digital titles, it was longer than the original and included both classic and HD graphics. The amount of quality found in this title far outweighs anything found in Sonic 4...

I am shocked he didn't list ME 3 as #1... given that its the flavor of the week and people seem legimately frustrated over the ending.

This being said, I hate lists like this. They look at the terms in such a blurred fashion.

5218d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

While its perfectly understandable to have a different opinion, several reviews mention control issues. The game goes for similar puzzles / locations, which certainly doesn't scream "quality title". Additionally, regardless of what the reviewer says, the reader poll is in the 2's...

Finally a 4 rating means... "4 – 4.9 BAD

Anything in the 4 range is pretty bad. Usually many elements have to work together, to make the game fail. These g...

I don't know whats so surprising...

Bodycount is an EXTREMELY easy platinum, but still trophy trackers list fewer than 2,000 gamers who've even played it. It stands to logic that a game like Uncharted which sold 1,000,000+ would have more platinums than that game most likely even had sales. Furthermore, the better the game, the more you play it and so more likely you're to platinum it by default.

Finally I would LIKE to point out that Modern Warfa...

RE the Mercs... people are STILL talking about that? Super Monkey Ball came out before RE the Mercs with the same thing and no one cared then, now, or most likely in the future. Many games besides RE the Mercs had this feature, but only RE the Mercs was protested. This is what makes these arguments simple hater bullshit.

You want to hate Capcom? Sure there's plenty of valid reasons.
You want to change the industry? Expect the same standards from other companies an...
