Enable transcoding in TVersity and you can watch MKV files. Or use MKV2MPG to convert the file to an MPG container and stream it native. Also, MKVs are primarily pirated Bluray movies so enabling anything that promotes piracy just ain't gonna happen. Hence the use of FAT32 and its 4GB file size limitation.
Doesn't need to. id Tech 5 engine is multiplat and beautiful. If it were middleware, that engine alone could extend this generation. But alas, only Bethesda published titles.

I think the 360 is 1 part shit, 1 part good gaming.
I think the PS3 is great, but lacks some of the features that make XBL good (cross chat, integrated, unified invites).
I think the Wii was a better investment for my kids than myself.
I think the DS was a better investment for my wife and kids...

Piracy is a concern regardless the device. It's an issue with current phones (iPhone/DroidX) and handhelds (PSP/DSwhatever). The question for me is will the version on this device be custom? If they plan on it accessing the PS Store, it better be.
I'd rather she watch and support me as I play ("You missed something shining over in the corner, "Watch out! Up on the right hand side, there's a guy.") rather than game "together". Or I'll watch and support her. While she plays NES Super Mario Bros. And that's all she plays. Over and over...
