What I don't understand is people saying that sony, MS, nintendo, and pc need publishers to be able to make profit on their consoles. Isnt it the publishers who need a system to play their media? With all the in-house development teams the major system manufacturers could tell the major publishers to get f@#$ed unless they stop pushing this. I don't have a problem with kinect either. But I do have a problem with it being mandatory always on always listening possibly spying. Plus its a part of the software ingrained into the box. How long do you think it'll take before someone figures out how to hack it? Not to mention MS can access it if they choose to. Funny how a company who's already been in trouble for spying on skype users says"your privacy is our top priority" Being able to turn it off isn't the same as being able to unplug it and leave it in a box in the closet. No thanks MS/BIG BROTHER.

I have a feeling I'm going to miss gaming because I won't be buying any console that I can't play used or borrowed games on. At least pc games are comparable to used game prices. Especially the sales on steam. I've had every major console since atari 2600 and If these rumors have any truth to them then the last generation is just that for me. Damn. I'm gonna need to upgrade my pc.
I buy most games used for two main reasons.
1. Most games are not worth 60 bux. I know every developer thinks they've created the next"it"game by the time their game is ready for release but this

Some of my favorite titles were xbox exclusives. Gears fable halo were phenomenal. I will miss them very much.
Your right. It will have most games that the ps4 has and the ps4 has a camera. But the things that have everybody so mad are the kinect requirement, used games fee, DRM, and internet required at least once every 24 hours. XBOXlive is not the web. The web is punching in something or other.com and being directed to that site. Paying for my internet access gets me the web. Paying for my internet access doesn't get me xbox live.
The original Xbox 1, the 360, and the new one all ignore the web! You get xbox live for 60 bux a year. Thats not the web. The web is what I get when I use my pc, ps3 and my smartphone. Which is not locked behind a paywall BTW, other than my normal service provider fee.

I watched it and the impression I got is that they're trying to turn the xbox into some sort of cable box media player that also plays video games. I might be in the minority here but I really couldn't care less about anything except the ability to play games. With the internet requirement, used game fee, and the paywall(xbox live) I can't see how this would be the system of choice for someone like me. Oh I almost forgot. F kinect.
Devs SHOULDNT get a fee from used games! They already got paid from the original sale. What makes the game industry any different from any other mass produced consumer product on the planet?! Anything can be bought and resold but video games are somehow exempt from the normal order of business?! There has been and always will be a used market for goods. Hopefully MS sees the error in this and changes their strategy because they are goin to alienate a lot more of their customers than they thin...
I wouldn't go so far to call it a gimmick. It was built around the idea of motion control. MS kinect and ps move was a gimmick. Its not Nintendos fault that no one seemed to care about making good games for it except them. Developers saw many casual gamers buying it and catered to those buyers. Then when those games sold reasonably well that's all devs and pubs would make. That's not nintendos fault.
