Sony is not just dropping their console's price, they completely re-manufactured another SKU, smaller in size, bigger in HDD, lesser power consumption equals less heat equal longer gaming time ( For those that has that said time ). I think it's also safe to say that Sony dropped the price of the "Fat" PS3 to clear their old stocks and make way for the PS3 Slim so that it can be the new PS3 from there on.
