i can see where you are coming from but these constant updates for games you are talking about? updates aren't all that common, its not something that happens once every week or something like that, so im not seeing what you are talking about.
The longest updates are always the firmware updates, and those aren't nearly as common as game updates, which normal download in mere seconds...
a smart customer who does his research would get the elite system if they are choosing a 360. Why gimp yourself of the full experience? with all of the great games you can download it would be foolish getting the arcade.
In fact, MS kinda shot themselves in the foot when they got rid of the pro sku. Could you imagine the growth in sales had they gotten rid of the arcade units and lowered the price of the pro by $50 or maybe make it the same price as the arcade?

I would love to have cross game chat on my ps3 for a few reasons
1- so we can finally get the fvck over it, tired of hearing about it, but even if and when they finally bring it, im sure some will find ways of hating psn.
2- Because its a fvcking awesome feature for a console gaming system. I just wish people would stop touting this as a major reason for paying for live.

Check my record, im mainly a ps3 player, its my only system and might likely stay this way. I do get to play 360 quite often though. 360 will be ok this holiday season.
I do believe that sony will trounce them in hardware sells though, but that doesn't mean MS is doomed. what they dont make in hardware sells they will make in software sells in games like Halo ODST, Forza, and a couple multiplats that should do really well on both systems, especially with the price cuts

Its really starting to seem as if sony can do no right for some people
it was a hard choice at first though, to be honest i didnt think there was a lot of games on ps3 that i wanted like 360. But Uncharted was the deciding factor for some odd reason, glad i went the way i went.
