The point isn't that MSFT can't fund it, but that they aren't in the film business whereas Sony has a dedicated arm in the industry. That isn't to say thay MSFT can't enter the industry as well, but it would be a bold if not precarious for a primarily software company to suddenly expand into that area for the sake of a single title. Their shareholder probably wouldn't be too happy, either. Sure, HALO is a great and profitble franchise, but I think Microsoft should stick to their software b...

...most likely nobody has any idea how the film "would have" been.

All you can speculate is that with Peter Jackson involved, it would have/will have a solid effort behind it. How can you judge a piece of work before it's even created? Would have been good, would have been bad...who cares? If you want the film, go show your demand for it, and it will be made.

What peeves me is that people say MSFT should just fund it themselves b/c they have the fina...

How about designing hardware/software architecture so that software is dual compatible with 3rd gen Xbox and Windows Vista gaming? Evolve the console closer to PC design, and have Vista PCs adaptable to console gaming. That way, you dissolve the barriers between console and PC gaming, and open up your market that much more. Besides, gaming consoles seem to be trending more to computer-like systems anyway.

Even if Sony's "facts" were true, they don't mention the "required" waiting time to get your hands on a PS3, which is indefinite.

Ford created the automobile, but their cars aren't glitch free...

I don't believe you'll see any games, or any software for that matter, at this day and age to be glitch free. For a game of that breadth, it's virtually impossible. And if the game is as good as everybody is touting it to be, I'm positive that the hoards of gamers out there will come across them sooner or later.

Either way, go for the gold, Epic.

Who throws controllers out the window??? Seriously, who does that? I've thrown mine on the floor, against the wall, and on the bed (all out of frustration when losing to my little brother in Fight Night Round 3). But out the window? Unheard of.

As for the new FPS controller, I've seen a good design used before successfuly in the genre. It amounts to a combination of relic devices, which the ancients referred to as "keyboard" and "mouse."

...because, as he stated, the penetration rate is in the single digits. Sony does it because they want to declare what gamers "need." MSFT didn't do it from the get-go b/c they didn't think enough gamers even wanted it. And most developers all around don't want to develop in 1080p.

All this back and forth about capability/necessity is moot. At this point, it still won't affect enough people to make it profitable for MS (or Sony for that matter) to invest time/mone...

Also agree. Exclusives differentiate the consoles and keep developers, console makers and publishers on their toes. At the same time, I have to admit that I'm very happy about certain titles that have taken off their "exclusive" label, i.e. Assassin's Creed. DMC4 on x360 would put a smile on my face...

Bringing the title stateside with an even better title to boot. The trailer looks great. I'm excited for this one.

While good news from a technical standpoint, I'm actually a bit disappointed by the 1080p announcement. By trying to compete with the PS3's technical superiority, MS is spending time, energy and money on matching up better on points that they stated did not matter in their original vision for the Xbox 360. Those are resources that could be better spent on improving the gaming experience all around as well as initiatives to garner more interest from developers in certain geographic regions. ...

Well put. The only "for sure" is change, be it change of leader in the industry, gamers' sentiments, or even developers' console preferrences. Remember when PS2 had a strong foothold in the business, and Xbox was solidifying its strength with its "must own" titles? And Gamecube became the forgotten third-child. Now, speculation has Nintendo taking top spot among the three with its innovation and pricing.

I've been a fan of Sony since PSOne, have gone th...

I don't know if others noticed or not, but the large circle at the bottom is not like the iPod's touch sensitive scroll wheel, but is instead just a directional pad in a circle layout.

And a question I must ask: why brown???

Not sure whether to call BS on this or not. Having a built in HD drive could be seen as another tier of the 2 availble packages now. It's certainly to face off with the PS3, but I feel that MSFT may be eating their words by going against their original strategy of targeting gamers vs. high end tech enthusiasts. To current x360 owners: had this been available from the get go (as a 3rd, top tier package) would you have bought it? Or simply gone for the Premium set? Technically going for a ...

Saints Row is like Grand Theft Auto but upgraded in graphics and gameplay. GRAW isn't a run and gun game, more tactical and realistic, but an EXCELLENT title. PGR3 is nicely integrated into Live. I haven't personally raced others via live, but the rankings make it very interesting. PGR has always been my favorite racing line - good balance between arcarde fun and driving sim realism. Fight Night is also a beautiful title, but it comes down to whether you like racing or boxing more.

Nice surprise move with MS and Ubi pulling a one, two punch, but is it enough? Obviously it is in anticipation of the other console's launching, but I don't know if it's incentive enough to pull in non-next gen gamers. Ask most 360 owners, though, and they'll tell you it's a smokin' deal. 360 GRAW is one of the best titles I've played in recent memory. Scott Mitchell is the man.

MSFT said that consumers would be pleasantly surprised by the add-on's pricing. Relative to a stand alone player, sure, the thing's should be much more inexpensive. But I was hoping for 199USD max. Hopes of that ceiling are dissolving quickly...

I finally got my 360 about two weeks ago (after several months of deliberation), and I'm loving it. I've been ambivalent as to whether or not I wanted to get into HD movies, but now I'm glad that I at least had a choice about it with th...

That sounds like some cult scripture.

Are you affiliated with Sony? You spit no truth, merely speculation.
