Determination for Skyrim multiplayer

InEntertainment writes: Could we one day see a Skyrim multiplayer mod as DLC on the PS3 and Xbox 360? We already looked at the possibility of downloadable content making its way to the PS3 and Xbox 360 via mods created by PC users.

Single player is good enough, but an Online mode to connect console players would be pretty cool.

BattleTorn5239d ago

Although the Single-Player is everything it needs to be, eventually (with Fallout 4, or TES6) the games are going to have to develope to incorporate online MP.

If they could manage it as early as Skyrim, it would be impressive.

BillytheAlien5240d ago

If the mods want to do this then fine but Bethesda should NEVER add an online mode for a number of reasons.

It's a single player adventure, you are the hero, you make the decisions, your the one who comes out on top of every fight....it's your story basicaly. You don't need an online mode just to show off a certain sword to your friend or brag about how quick you can kill something.....go play Two Worlds 2 or Fable 3 if you want that.

Anyway with all the bugs Bethesda have now with single player that they still havent fixed can you imagine what kind of bugs the online mode will bring

Bethesda has even admitted online would ruin the single player development.

Obsessed online fans who think the feature needs to be in every game should back off. Your going to ruin Elder Scrolls or even Fallout since they would probably do it to that aswell.

Lazy_Sunday5239d ago (Edited 5239d ago )

They could easily do co-op though without ruining the single player development. But it would have to be set-up like Borderlands, and you'd need to stay within a certain distance of each other. There would have to be more enemies--and they'd have to be harder. Saves would have to be optimized for faster drop in and out play, the hotkey and favorites menu would need a redo, combat would need to be more enticing, and there would need to be reviving or re-spawning somehow. Quests would need to be optimized for two people, and... Okay never mind, that's a lot. Hopefully a mod might be able to do these things!

...Then again I'll just wait for Torchlight 2...

LettingGo5239d ago

Just two-player would be fine with me. :) I love playing by myself and enjoying the stories/world alone, but it would be fun to play with a friend also...like Borderlands.

SJPFTW5239d ago

no will never happen because the PS3 will not magically gain more than a measly 256 RAM? Heck it struggles to run the game as is

Arknight5239d ago

RAM has absolutely nothing to do it. It's graphically equivalent to having an NPC fighting next to you.

Fylus5239d ago (Edited 5239d ago )

Well it would require a means of managing a server even if only for two people. But yeah, RAM has absolutely nothing to do with it.

By the way, Arknight, I think I accidentally clicked "Disagree" on your comment. It was meant to be an "Agree". My apologies.

Raider695239d ago (Edited 5239d ago )

well thats not true you need much more bandwidth to,use a online player has your mate than using an AI controled NPC!So ram will be actually a matter to take in account!

Arknight5239d ago (Edited 5239d ago )

Deadlybrand:

RAM and network bandwidth are 2 completely different things. One is a physical object, while the other is a measurement. RAM is only used to hold (logical)objects in memory on your local device, hence, having an extra player onscreen would be equivalent to an in-game NPC to your system's RAM. All network-related commands, synchronizations, etc, would need to be handled by an external server provided by Bethesda. The bandwidth allocation would be completely up to them in order to provide a smooth environment for the players connecting to their server.

Either way, these games are much better as single player.

they can't get a 14 year old game to run smoothly?

jjb1981161d ago

That's ridiculous, lol. I'm waiting for the guy that says its too cpu-intensive for the Switch 2. This game is old af and has been released like 17 times.
